Founded in 1994, Home Instead has helped older adults around the world age safely and with dignity at home, using a time-tested approach built on connection and compassion.
My only contact with Home Instead has been with my caregiver Ana Garcia. She has been visiting me Mondays since September 21. I am graduating to take care of myself next week, on November 9. She has done a sensational job for me, and I regret that she won't be coming anymore. Principle among the things she did for me is that she taught me to cook for myself. She took someone who only knows how to heat things up and taught me about pan frying fish. This was a liberating experience for me. The way she taught me to season it makes it delicious. In addition to the cooking she was always ready to drive my car to get things done. Whenever I asked to make some trips, she was promptly ready to go, no matter how trivial the errand was. She also helped me with my physical therapy exercises. She did the boring job of counting seconds and repetitions while I got a better workout being relieved of this task. When there was down time, she was an excellent conversationalist, very easy to talk to. Since we have been working together for eight weeks, I've learned all about her family. And, she was never at a loss of words whatever I might bring up. Next week is our last day of working together. She's going on a shopping trip with me for bedding, a task I can't bring myself to do alone. After that day is done, I'm truly going to miss her. My abilities to take care of myself have improved greatly since she started coming to me. She made my improvement effortless. Randy Coleman
I have a good caring relationship with Home Instead. Their employees are very caring and capable. I have had their services going on 2 years and will continue to use them.
Posting for David Wetherbee. He doesn’t have a Google account. Merrie did an excellent job. Cleaning and grocery shopping
My caregiver Sue Catterton does an excellent work.
Christy K has been taking care of my Mom Karen at a level that exceeds expectations. She has become part of the family. The way she cares for her is absolute blessing that we are so thankful for. Christy has a high attention to every detail of my Mother’s needs and exceptional communication. My Mom feels very loved and very safe when she is there with her and we trust her with every aspect. My Mom has recently been assigned with Hospice. Christy has been there for not only my Mom but me also since she is so experienced and truly wants the best for her. I can really tell that she cares and loves what she does. Thank you for everything Christy. We love you our Angel. -Leonard Furst

Here are some common signs it might be time to consider in-home care:
The good news? Help doesn't have to mean moving out. Our Care Pros help older adults stay safe and supported right in their own homes.
Want help starting the conversation? Download our What's Next Toolkit for tips, checklists, and conversation starters that make these discussions easier.
Still unsure? A care consultation is a great place to start. We'll listen, answer your questions, and help you explore your options—with no pressure or obligation.
Here's when home care might be the right step:
Home Instead Care Pros provide support that fits your routine—not the other way around. Whether it's meal prep, a walk, or help getting to appointments, our care is designed to enhance—not replace—your role.
You don't have to wait for a crisis. Most families who start care with us say they wish they had done it sooner.
There's no one-size-fits-all answer—but if your loved one wants to stay in their own home, in-home care can be the most personal, flexible, and reassuring option.
In-home care vs. assisted living
Assisted living can be great for those who want a communal setting and are ready to relocate. But if your loved one wants to stay at home, in-home care offers:
In-home care vs. hiring a private caregiver
Hiring an independent caregiver can seem less expensive—but it comes with risk. As the employer, you'd be responsible for payroll, insurance, and coverage when they can't show up.
With Home Instead, we handle everything:
In-home care is all about helping your loved one stay independent, comfortable, and safe—right in the place they know and love. From simple companionship to specialized dementia support, our Care Pros are here to help make life easier.
