Screening / Training
Home Instead CAREGivers go through an intensive screening process prior to hire. They are certified, complete annual state required training, and enjoy additional trainings unique to our organization and clients. We have disease specific trainings available as questions or needs arise and can offer those trainings within hours. We believe education is essential in keeping our staff up to date on the most relevant caregiving techniques and health conditions. We also believe that education is one of the greatest gifts in life!
Our employees can rest assured knowing that here at Home Instead they are respected and appreciated by management and one another. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, paid sick time, our employees are paid above Seattle minimum averages and are compensated for overtime, driving time between clients, and miles driven. We schedule our employees within their availability, which means when they’re with our clients they want to be there. Additionally, we make sure all taxes and insurances are paid. Our employees are so important to us - we value each care team member.
From our communication with clients to our communication with each other – we are organized in our approach to providing care. We use the most current technology available, even providing computer tablets to clients and caregivers to ensure that care is organized and everyone is connected. In addition, families have access to schedules, notes, logbooks, and our staff answers phones 24/7.
From the smooth transitions we make in home with our clients, to the professional relationships we have in the community, Home Instead is well connected. This allows our clients to be well connected to additional resources, and as needs arise we can easily call upon our trusted partners.
For every challenge faced, we work with our clients to help them find the very best solution. Our goal as caregivers is to listen to our clients as they navigate through the aging process so that we can offer support. Clients are never alone – our entire team here at Home Instead is working behind the scenes to support their wishes.
We offer several layers of options to best fit the needs of each client and can quickly and easily transition from hourly care a few times per week to 24-hour care as needed. We know that health can change quickly, and our flexibility provides our clients with continuity of care.
The area in which we work is limited to Seattle and a few select neighborhoods north and south of the city limits. This means that we are extremely efficient in navigating and know our city well. When it comes to getting around Seattle, rain or shine, our team can do it. We have back up plans as well for the occasional employee call out, foul weather day or city event.
We are committed to our clients, families, and to each other. The majority of our clients are referred to us by a provider in the community, a friend or loved one. We find that our clients are also committed to us, as many return when their health care needs change.
We ask both clients, family members and employees for feedback using an in-person quality assessment approach, phone calls / virtual visits, and emailed survey requests on a regular basis as we understand that to be the best in the industry, we need to listen to those we serve. We value feedback as it helps us continually evolve as an organization.
From background checks to drug screening, to necessary COVID testing, know that your care team has been cleared. In addition, we provide our care team with personal protective equipment, technology, and safety trainings. Initial assessments, supervisory visits, quality control visits, and reviews are done to make sure care plan goals are being met. Bottom line - our goal is to keep clients and their care team secure and safe.
