About Us

Meet Our Team


Jeremy and Sylvia Farber, Owners

Jeremy has worked in higher education and healthcare, including the healthcare community in central and south Texas, for over 20 years. He has built strong relationships with neurologists and the medical community in the surrounding area. In college, Jeremy worked as a care giver and has fond memories of escorting his elderly friend to the country club!  

Sylvia has worked in the special needs field her entire career and serves as an advocate to families with children with special needs. She worked as a care giver to children while she was in college, one being a live-in position.

Additionally, Jeremy and Sylvia have personal experience understanding the challenges, complexities, and joys of being a care giver to a loved one, as their daughter has a rare genetic syndrome. Jeremy and Sylvia feel their professional and personal experiences have prepared them well to serve you and/or your loved one. They are deeply passionate about serving others and believe their clients and families deserve dignity and compassion. Their strongest desire is to provide compassionate care within a strong culture of excellence.


Allison Johnston, General Manager

As the company's General Manager, Mrs. Johnston oversees the entire operations of the business and all office positions report directly to her. Allison oversees all client care and CAREGiving activities.

Allison was born and raised in New Braunfels, Texas and graduated from Canyon High School. She then attended school at Texas State University before traveling abroad. Allison is happily married to her better half, Tyler. They enjoy traveling, health and studying the Bible. She became a member of the Home Instead family as a CAREgiver in 2014, and was promoted to Front Office Admin, then Staffing Coordinator, then Client Care Manager, and finally her current position of General Manager in January of 2017. Allison's goal at Home Instead is to be used in any way God has planned to help make a difference in the lives of the seniors and caregivers in our community.


Victoria Raxter, Service Coordinator

​Born in California, Victoria has moved around because of the military as a child and now as a spouse. Victoria, her husband James, and two boys moved here to the New Braunfels area in Spring of 2019 because of her husband's military service. They have quickly fell in love with the people and area. Victoria has a passion for helping others and has experience working with seniors in facilities and in their homes. Before moving here from Kentucky, Victoria was attending college to fulfill a degree in nursing. She holds a certification for nurse aide in the state of Texas. In her free time she loves to go camping, spending time in the water, and watching her boys play baseball.


Nancy Weigandt, Training & Engagement Supervisor

​Nancy provides the training for all of our CAREGivers. In addition, she works directly with the CAREGivers as the Engagement Supervisor. She knows how important it is to have caring and well-trained CAREGivers—she and her brother helped care for their mom through her 10 year battle with Alzheimer's. Nancy was born in Rhode Island, raised in California, and spent ten years in Pennsylvania before moving to the central Texas area in October of 2014. She retired in 2004 after serving 20 years as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy working as a Cardiovascular Technician. In 2010 she earned her Bachelor of Science in Healthcare from the University of Pittsburgh, and in 2012 a Master's in Education from Saint Vincent College. She is married to her wonderful (and very patient) husband Phil and they have one son, Erik. He and his wife just had their first baby in 2021. Nancy & Phil love spoiling their grandson Felix, traveling, camping, all things Disney and their 2 cats. Nancy joined the Home Instead team in May of 2015. 


Lisa Odom, Hiring Coordinator

Lisa joined the Home Instead family in 2015 as a CAREGiver and was offered the Front Office Administrator position in September of 2016.  She was recently promoted to the position of the Hiring Coordinator.

Lisa was born in Parker County, Texas at Fort Wolters Army Helicopter Base and grew up in Louisiana graduating from Thibodaux High School in 1991.  She moved to New Braunfels in 2009 where she currently resides.  Lisa completed her Associate Arts Degree from University of Phoenix in 2012.  She worked in retail for a few years and completed training to become a Certified Nurse's Aide (CNA) in 2014.  Upon graduation, she worked as a CNA at Eden Hill Communities in the Alzheimer/Dementia Unit where she gave her patients lot of TLC in addition to taking care of them.

Lisa is the mother of three beautiful daughters. In addition, she has three active kitties who are both rescue cats.  In her spare time, Lisa enjoys floating on the Comal and hanging out with her kids.


Carla Zorowski, Home Care Consultant

Carla Zorowski is the Home Care Consultant for Home Instead. Carla works with area physicians, home health agencies, hospice nurses and many other health care professionals to ensure community awareness of the services we offer Seniors as well as coordinate services among our clients’ providers.
Carla was born in Evansville, IN and graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration. She received her Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. She began her career with Karrington Health (purchased by Sunrise Senior Living) in Columbus, OH as Sales and Marketing Director in an Assisted Living Community. She continued in the Assisted Living industry in positions of Executive Director and Regional Operations Director in states including Ohio, New Mexico and Colorado. While taking a few years off from the Senior care industry, she volunteered in her kids’ schools, was a substitute teacher and a private caregiver for an elderly couple. Prior to Home Instead, Carla worked at Elan Westpointe as the Community Relations/Marketing Director under Life Care Services management company.
Carla has a son and daughter in college. They moved to Austin, TX from Cincinnati, OH in 2011, then to New Braunfels, TX in 2014. In her spare time, she likes to vacation on the beach, visit family and friends in Indian and Ohio, and play pickleball.

Amanda Hodge, RN , Client Care Coordinator

Amanda is happy to function as Client Care Coordinator and RN for Home Instead. She has experience working in the hospital for two and a half years. She was born in Alvarado, TX and moved to Lubbock to complete her prerequisites for nursing school at Texas Tech University. She then moved to Abilene, TX where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. After earning her degree, she lived and worked in Austin, TX for a year before getting married and relocating to New Braunfels, which she's excited to call home. She worked for a year and a half at Northeast Methodist Hospital providing care for critical patients. She joined Home Instead because she felt their mission was her calling. Amanda has a heart for serving, learning, growing, and caring. When she is not at work she is reading, walking her dog, or working on one of her many hobbies.

Lisa Ruiz-Burchfield, Office Coordinator

Lisa Ruiz-Burchfield joined the Home Instead family in 2019 as a CAREGiver. In August of 2021, Lisa joined the office part-time as Office Coordinator. 

Lisa is a military brat and has lived in several Texas towns since she was little and has lived in New Braunfels since 2015. Lisa worked years in retail and wanted a second, more fulfilling job. She heard about Home Instead from a neighbor, and after 8 months, decided to work full-time for Home Instead because of how rewarding it was to help others. 

Lisa is a mother of two boys that are her life, along with her two dogs and two cats. Lisa enjoys camping, floating the Guadalupe River, and hanging out with family.
