Four Madison Edgewood Students Will Receive $2,500 Scholarships To Pursue The Field Of Nursing

MADISON, WI (SEPT. 2, 2021) – Home Instead Madison announced that it has gifted $30,000 to Madison’s Edgewood College, providing scholarships for four local nursing students over the next three years.

The scholarship funds are being awarded in honor of “Grandpa Al,” the grandfather of and inspiration for owner Steve Nooyen, franchise owner of Home Instead Madison. Nooyen opened the first Home Instead office in Wisconsin 24 years ago, and, in addition to the Madison franchise, owns offices in Green Bay, Appleton, Sheboygan, Cedarburg, Racine and Kenosha.

For the next three years, Home Instead Madison will award four students in the nursing program at Edgewood College — the oldest nursing school in Wisconsin — with $2,500 to put toward their academic pursuits.

As the U.S. population continues to grow at unprecedented rates, the demand for healthcare professionals, aging advocates and professional caregivers will only increase. Home Instead Madison is firsthand working to combat this shortage by investing in the future of students with The Home Instead Nursing Scholarship.

“We are incredibly proud to provide support for the education of these students and tomorrow’s healthcare providers,” said Chad Weis, general manager of Home Instead Madison. “By investing in our future providers, we are contributing to the quality of care that our community will receive down the line. We hope that these students will one day enhance the care experience by providing practical and compassionate support for our aging and special-needs community members.”

The first student recipients to receive inaugural The Home Instead Nursing Scholarship funds are as follows: Grace Brennan, Max Dermody, Bamba Sillahand and another student who wished to remain anonymous.
