HOME INSTEAD® MADISON PLEDGES $70,000 ENDOWMENT TO EDGEWOOD COLLEGE

Endowment and scholarship fund established to support students pursuing the medical field

MADISON, WIS. – NOV. 15, 2021 – Home Instead Madison announced that it has made another major financial contribution — now totaling $100,000 — to the Henry Predolin School of Nursing at Edgewood College.

In September, Home Instead announced an initial $30,000 donation to Madison-based Edgewood College. Now it is pledging an additional $70,000 to help undergraduate nursing students pursue careers in healthcare.

This second round of funding will go to an endowment at Edgewood College, ensuring that future healthcare professionals can receive the education, training and experience to make a difference in our communities.

Chad Weis, general manager at Home Instead Madison, said, “We’re excited to expand our partnership with Edgewood College and to give back to tomorrow’s medical professionals. This endowment will further enhance Edgewood College’s long-standing nursing school, giving future generations more access to a quality healthcare-based education.”

Earlier this year, Home Instead and Edgewood College partnered to create a $30,000 Home Instead Nursing Scholarship fund, effective this academic year and continuing over the next three to five years.

Each year, at least four local nursing students will receive a minimum of $2,000 to put toward their academic pursuits. The scholarship will automatically renew each academic year during the student’s enrollment at Edgewood.

The scholarship funds were established in honor of “Grandpa Al,” the grandfather of and inspiration for Steve Nooyen, owner of Home Instead Madison. Twenty-four years ago following the loss of Grandpa Al De Cleene to dementia, Nooyen opened the first Home Instead office in Wisconsin (Green Bay) and then began expanding his footprint across the state, including the opening of Home Instead Madison in 2013. Today, seven franchise offices across Wisconsin are dedicated to the memory of Grandpa Al.

Together, these gifts from Home Instead — scholarship and endowment — can help bolster the volume of care providers in the industry.

Weis added, “As our industry continues to experience increased demands for care services, both medical and non-medical, we’re simultaneously seeing a shortage of healthcare and caregiving professionals. Through this partnership with Edgewood College, we’re not only investing in tomorrow’s leaders but also bridging the gap between service demand and the supply of quality professionals available to administer those services. Ultimately, we want to ensure that more aging adults can receive the care they deserve, when they need it.”
