About Us
Meet Our Team

Pam Boles, Co-Owner

On August 1, 2010, Roger and I began the ownership of the Home Instead office in Staunton.  The office had been running successfully since 2001 and was growing steadily.  For the next 12 years, Roger and I continued to build the business by following the Home Instead plan of providing the best care possible for aging adults and their families. We were honored to provide care for many special people in our communities.  We worked alongside some wonderful caregivers and our office team who took serving seniors seriously and wanted to see ‘their seniors’ thrive and flourish in their later years.  Roger and I loved calling the Shenandoah Valley our home.

In the spring of 2022, Roger was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Then, for the next several months, Roger made sure that everything was in place for our Home Instead office to continue running smoothly without him.  Our General Manager, John, (also our 2nd son) had been with us for a couple of years and was learning all the things necessary to keep the office successful. After Roger’s passing in early September, our office team continued working together to ensure that no detail was overlooked for our clients and Care Professionals during those difficult days.

Then, in January 2023, John completed all the requirements to co-own the Home Instead office with me. John has a background in mechanical engineering which gives him a strong background in keeping all the parts of things in place and running smoothly.  He worked locally at Dynamic Aviation, a couple of years at GM in Detroit, and then Leidos in Bridgewater.  He came to Home Instead to help others – especially aging adults. He met his wife, Katie in high school but then lost touch with her until 2019 when he was visiting the lower 48 states on his motorcycle.  They married in 2020 and have 2 sons, Justus and Maverick, and their dog Drax.

John and I are honored to be part of the Home Instead family locally and globally.  It is a great company that enables us both to use our gifts of helping others live their best lives.  We are committed to fulfilling the mission of Home Instead:  to enhance the lives of aging adults and their families and to expand the world’s capacity to care.

John Boles, General Manager & Co-Owner

John has been our General Manager since April 2022.  He entered a partnership with Pam, as Franchise Co-Owner, in January 2023 after the passing of his father, Roger. John oversees the day-to-day operations of the business, manages the office staff, and tends to the billing/payroll. John joined the Home Instead Team in August 2020 as the Assistant to the General Manager. This role provided him with the opportunity to learn the various components of the family-owned business while also assisting our then General Manager with specific tasks.

John's background is in engineering, previously working as a Flight Test Engineer with Leidos at the Bridgewater Airpark as well as being a Steering Engineer for General Motors. John describes himself as a "car nut" and a motorcycle/outdoor enthusiast. He currently lives in Staunton with his wife, Katie, sons, Justice and Maverick, and dog, Drax. He spends his free time with anything involving car repairs, home renovations, eating good food with family and friends, listening to audio books, and swimming/biking/running.

In this role she worked with our client care team to conduct client care consultations as well as reassessments for those clients that are receiving personal care. Denise previously worked at Sentara RMH for almost 30 years as a charge nurse on a busy med-surgery unit and also has experience in Hospice. In August of 2023, she stepped into the role of Nurse Manager following the retirement of Linda Eutsler, RN. When not working, Denise enjoys a host of hobbies that include reading, cross-stitching, cooking, attending concerts, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and photography. She also has a special passion for singing and always enjoyed singing at weddings, funerals, at church or just for fun. She lives in Elkton with her 2 cats (aka her "boys"), Toulouse and Berlioz (named after the cats in the Disney film "Aristocats"!)

Cathy Martin, RN, Staff Nurse

Cathy Martin joined the Home Instead team in March 2019 as a staff nurse. In this role, Cathy's primary responsibility is to visit clients to assess and reassess their plan of care for personal care services. She also works with the Client Care Manager to assist with Care Professional training and in-services. Cathy began her nursing practice with a medical/surgical focus in Roanoke, VA. After a few years, Cathy transitioned to an oncology floor and discovered a passion for helping patients when navigating through a diagnosis of cancer. After working on the oncology floor, she then moved to an outpatient chemotherapy clinic. Cathy moved to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley from Roanoke in December 2017 due to a relocation in her husband's employment. She and her husband have been married for 36 years and have two adult children. In her spare time, Cathy enjoys volunteering, working in her church, reading, and spending time with her family.
