Meet James and Christina, Nashville’s Client and Professional CAREGiver Spotlight team for May! Mr. James and his wife moved to Tennessee from Ohio several years ago. Mr. James was a Health and Physical Education teacher in Ohio for 31 years. He also coached football, basketball and tennis. He continued to coach, even after his retirement in 1997. He has had knee surgery and is now in a wheelchair.
Christina has been Mr. James’ caregiver for many years. She is with him for about seven hours each day! When she arrives, she will help him with his bath and to get dressed. After that, there is no telling where you will find the pair, as they both like to be out and about! Around Christmas, they like to drive around and look at the lights together. They also like to go out to eat at McDonald’s or anywhere that sounds good at the time. Speaking of food, Christina says that Mr. James makes the best chili she has ever tasted! When they are not out on an adventure, you may find the pair sitting on the front porch, watching the world go by.
Mr. James says, “Christina is no longer my caregiver, she’s my daughter”. He says he can count on her and if she says she will do something, you can be sure that she will follow through. Christina also has a special relationship with Mr. James’ wife. Christina even comes to Mr. James’ house for holidays so they can cook and eat together! James and Christina truly exemplify what it means to ‘Share Our Hearts’. We hope that Mr. James and Christina remain together for many years to come!
