Brad Cannon, Owner
"Home Instead is personal to me because we are in the business of caring for others. The relationships that we have with our clients and their families are built on a foundation of trust. We have been the solution for so many different family circumstances since 2002 and we have been able to meet these personal needs of seniors with love and compassion. Home Instead as a team is a group of people on a mission to help others and that is very personal. We all have been given free choice regarding our careers and this team has collectively chosen to help seniors and their families. I love what we do and I take seriously the trust that is bestowed upon us by each family that asks Home Instead to help."
Originally from Glasgow, Kentucky, Brad has a Bachelor's Degree from Western Kentucky University. Brad is also a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) and a licensed nursing home administrator in Kentucky and Florida. He purchased his first franchise in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in 2002, and has since purchased multiple Home Instead franchises across Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Juanita Almy, Vice President of Operations
Juanita Almy, Vice President of Operations
“Home Instead is personal to me because every senior in the community deserves to age in the place that they have called home until their final days. I chose Home Instead and continue to choose Home Instead because I can. I can choose to be a driving force in the aging process and aging at home. I have watched complete strangers and friends sit in a nursing home and stare blankly out a window each day, wishing to go home, or leave. I am realistic that I cannot save everyone, but I can diligently chip away at spreading the mission and, more importantly, the love. I choose Home Instead because I genuinely want to positively enhance the lives of aging adults and their families. I choose Home Instead so that I can work side by side with admin who quickly became like family and share the same mission. I choose Home Instead to have the opportunity to be a difference maker, a leader, and a resource for people who do not want to ask for help but need it. I chose Home Instead because it is an ever-changing business that gives people opportunity…if you want it. Life is hard, sometimes work is hard, but the choice I made is easy."
Born and raised in Upstate New York, Juanita and her husband relocated to Bowling Green Kentucky in 2015. Soon after moving, Juanita began her career with Home Instead as a Professional CAREGiver in Bowling Green, KY, determined to do something that she loved, something “worthwhile” and something to “make a difference”. She served as the Communications Engineer for the Bowling Green, KY, franchise before becoming the Human Resources Coordinator then quickly transitioning into the Director of Human Resources.
In 2017 Juanita began working with Clarksville and its surrounding areas as the Vice President of Operations, to help seniors in the community. In November of 2019, Juanita accepted the opportunity to run a second franchise in Goodlettsville to serve more seniors. As of 2020, Juanita moved to Gadsden, Alabama, to oversee all operations there. In November 2020, Juanita acquired the Nashville Home Instead, as well as the Franklin Home Instead, and appointed two Executive Directors to run day to day operations in those two businesses. As of January 2021, Juanita now oversees all operations in Bowling Green KY, and Frankfort KY Home Instead as well, making her Operationally responsible for all outcomes in all 7 Franchises. As Vice President of Operations, she provides support to the Divisional Vice President in Bowling Green, KY, and the Executive Directors of the Clarksville, Goodlettsville, Nashville, Franklin, and Gadsden, offices.

Kelsey Stone, Executive Director
Tell us about your background and what brought you to Home Instead:
I relocated to Nashville from Bloomington, Illinois in 2018. I was excited to move to Nashville and find a home where I could enjoy my favorite activities of hiking and camping. Tennessee’s landscape has not let me down! Besides camping and hiking, I love cooking and reading. I have two kittens which I adore and hope to add some dogs to that mix soon! I love meeting new people through my role at Home Instead and am happy to assist individuals with concerns or questions regarding home care services they already receive or are interested in receiving from Home Instead.
Tell us about your best professional and personal achievements:
I believe my greatest professional achievement is the dedication that I have for the company that I work for in the role that I’m in. I’ve had the opportunity to work for several companies in several different roles and I pride myself in being knowledgeable about the role that I play and the company that I am a part of. I have a great work ethic and I’m thankful that I’ve received the opportunity at Home Instead to be in a position that allows that work ethic and industry knowledge to shine best.
Tell us something personal about you (hobby/activity):
I love to hike and camp. Prior to my move to Nashville, I took a 6 week long road trip across several states and spent that whole time hiking in camping. I’m happy in a tent, a hammock, a cabin, a leanto, or whatever! I find a lot of peace in the outdoors and love the reset and recharge it gives me to go into every day with a positive attitude. I also love animals and have recently moved outside of the city where I can not drink coffee on a Saturday morning watching the neighbor’s horses graze and run in the pasture next door.
Why is Home Instead Senior Care “personal to you”?:
Home Instead is personal to me because, after working for five years as a caregiver with persons with disabilities at a non-profit, I moved to a position into the ‘corporate world’ at an insurance company. From the time I made that move I was itching to get back to an environment where I could directly impact the quality of life for individuals in need. Finding Home Instead has done just that, and I am excited every day knowing that what I do helps seniors be able to stay Home Instead.”

Most of the activities we love doing are outdoors. My days are so amazing I can spend all day with my baby and not miss the exciting new things she does which is my favorite thing ever.
Why is Home Instead Senior Care “personal to you”?:
Home Instead is personal to me because I been in the situation of having family members and loved ones that need the help. We all have parents that sooner or later will need it and so will we. Having someone be the helping hands is huge relief on families knowing their parents are well taken care of. It is truly life changing what someone’s action can help others lives.
Elizabeth Alley, Client Care Coordinator
Tell us about your background and what brought you to Home Instead:
I moved back to Nashville in October 2019 to help my dad deal with illnesses as he ages. Prior to moving back I had spent several years caring for my grandmother who died of Alzheimer’s related conditions. I remembered how wonderful the small accomplishments felt when my grandmother enjoyed her ice cream as if it as her first time eating ice cream. And in helping my dad I saw how difficult it is for older individuals to navigate some of the technology in use today. I decided I wanted to make helping people not just age with grace and dignity but be able to live with it in the present, a priority in my life and I found Home Instead.
Tell us about your best professional and personal achievements:
I went back to college as a full-time working adult. I had to go nights and weekends, but I finished and was proud to be the first member of both sides of my family to get a Bachelor’s degree.
Tell us something personal about you (hobby/activity):
I enjoy listening to true crime podcast and spending time with my fur baby, Betsy.
Why is Home Instead Senior Care “personal to you”?:
Home Instead is personal to me because I know I am making a difference in the lives of others. That may mean giving a senior the opportunity to stay in their home and age in familiar surroundings that they worked throughout life to build. It may also mean giving a family time to rest, knowing their loved one is being cared for by passionate and loving people.

Doug Cobern, Human Resources Coordinator
With a desire to journey with people and help them grow into the best “them” they can become, all the work positions I have held work toward that end in some way. For approximately five years I worked direct care with at risk youth in a group home setting or as a direct care personnel in a facility. I also served 10 years in the Chaplain Corps of the United States military (combination of Army National Guard and United States Air Force Reserves).
Home Instead provided me an opportunity to work in elder care, honing-in on the continual special skills needed to come alongside families in the care of their loved one showing the care, compassion, and dignity that all mankind deserves. This has also provided me the opportunity to continue to grow and become a better version of myself daily.
I have been blessed to have achieved so much in academic and professional pursuits. I have completed various courses and trainings that have made an impact into obtaining personal and professional goals. Academically, I have obtained three Masters’ degrees in area’s that have provided great tools to work with and journey with people throughout their lives. With the Master of Divinity degree in Chaplaincy, I obtained the personal goal of becoming a chaplain in the United States military. In this position, I was able to strengthen skills I had already obtained and become more proficient in skills that were needing to strengthen.
Education is a lifelong pursuit of mine. With several years of formal education, which includes three Master’s degrees, a Bachelor degree and an associate degree, I have been blessed to have such great opportunities. As I continue to seek to grow and better myself throughout life’s journey, I keep the idea that to continue to educate myself through various methods of education will keep me up-to-date on current methods to provide best possible results.
With a love of getting to know and caring for people Home Instead offers a great experience to share love, compassion, respect and dignity to those whom I have been blessed to serve, as well as my fellow co-workers. In this way I feel that I am truly able to live out my biblical life verse (Joshua 24:15) and be the best version of me each and every day.

Jessi Skidmore, Medicaid Waiver Specialist
"Home Instead is personal to me because it gives me the chance to help a lot of people in a really big way. Even the smallest things we do here can make a huge difference to the person we are helping and their families. I really look forward to coming to work every day. One of my favorite things is hearing from CAREGivers and clients alike when they are so grateful of the match I made for them."
Jessi grew up in Virginia and moved to Tennessee three years ago. She has worked at customer service jobs since she was old enough to begin working, but never felt like she was doing enough actual service. After years of doing what she could to help customers in a call center she came to Home Instead to help customers in a more personal way. Jessi started working with Home Instead as a Professional CAREGiver in early 2015. After connecting with so many seniors and their families as a CAREGiver she was promoted to the Client Services Coordinator position in October of 2015 and is currently our Medicaid Waiver Specialist. She now works to help seniors and their families ensure their services are covered through the Medicaid program. She is continuing her education at MTSU and is currently learning a third language. She hopes to use these skills to help and connect with more cultural backgrounds in our community and in communities around the world.

Debbie Jones, CAREGiver Development Specialist
Tell us about your background and what brought you to Home Instead:
I have always been a Caregiver in some way. My mom was a caregiver from the heart not through a company. She was always the one taking food, cleaning people’s houses, and most of all being there at end of life. I always was with her even from an early age I was by the bedside of so many loved ones as they transitioned. My heart has always been to be there for people in whatever, they needed. I taught preschool for 12 years, I worked in a mental handicap home for 4 years. I have done private home care. I worked at Big Lots for 3 days and realized it was not for me. I am so thankful for the heart God gave me and He gets all the praise for it!
Tell us about your best professional and personal achievements:
My best professional achievement was something one of my clients told me several years ago. She said to me one day that she hopes when I am old, that I have someone like me to take care of me. She was my heart. I was truly honored when I was taking care of her that I was chosen CAREGiver of the Year in 2015.
My best personal achievement is my Grand baby, who is truly the light of my life. I am blessed beyond measure to be his Mamaw.
Tell us something personal about you (hobby/activity):
I love southern gospel music. Love spending time with my family….especially my grandbaby!!!
I also love sitting on my deck drinking coffee!
Why is Home Instead Senior Care “personal to you”?:
When you walk into someone’s home you should always have a genuine smile on your face, Unconditional love in your heart knowing you will make a difference in someone’s life; just as you would want someone doing that for one of your loved ones…..or maybe even you down the road. Making it, whatever “it” is, personal makes all the difference in the world. Remembering sometimes doing the littlest thing for someone can make the biggest impact.

Amanda Watt, Home Care Specialist
"Home Instead is personal to me because it allows me the opportunity to ensure others' happiness. Since 2004 I have been working with Home Instead clients and their families to coordinate, manage and facilitate the highest quality care possible, while maintaining the senior’s wishes to remain at home and as independent as possible. To work with clients and their families on such a personal level feels much more like a calling than a profession."
Amanda began her tenure with Home Instead as a CAREGiver in 2004. She has served in various administrative roles helping clients and their families in multiple capacities becoming a true expert in senior care. She transitioned to the Regional Team in 2017 as the Home Care Specialist, where she currently assist individuals inquiring about our care and payment options. Amanda also enjoys time with her husband and two sons – whether is at sports, traveling to new places or just enjoying a relaxing weekend at home. It is truly her pleasure to assist with families in finding a trusted provider and seeing them delighted with their Professional CAREGiver.

Nick Brown, Intake Coordinator
Nick is a native of South-Central Kentucky where he grew up with deep family roots.
