Our December 2021 Professional Caregiver and Client Spotlight of the Month is Ronisha Bowers (caregiver) and Lora Smith (client). Ms. Lora Smith lives in her own apartment and has been in the same community for many years! She says she enjoys and welcomes change and has moved several times throughout her life but feels that she is surrounded by good neighbors in a great community and is happy where she is at.
She said that finding Home Instead after her daughter saw an ad on TV has made her felt like she can continue to stay in the place that she loves and still be able to do all the things she wants and needs to like her grocery shopping, laundry, and appointments. Recently she thought about moving to another community but the laundry in the basement was a “no go” for her and Tiara.
Lora and her Caregiver Tiara are both type A personalities and love planning. They spend time at the beginning of every week planning what needs to happen that week and how they will accomplish it. They really appreciate that about each other. Ms. Smith says ‘the groceries don’t get themselves to you – you got to plan to eat!” and one of her and Tiara’s favorite treats is a warm cup of coffee in the morning from the Starbucks down the road. It gives them just the right amount of energy to plan.
