We started our relationship with Home Instead a month ago. Obviously, we were a bit nervous about who would be caring for my wife and what they would do for her. The minute Dionne came through they door, we knew she would be excellent. Dionne is a joy for my wife. Several household tasks are done, she takes her places and provides much needed support with a smile. We couldn't be happier.
We used the services of Home Instead for almost a year to assist in the care of my wife who has Alzheimer's. Linda was her caregiver; you couldn't ask for a more caring, upbeat, and cheerful person ... she always arrived promptly as scheduled, took a personal interest in seeing that my wife's needs were taken care of and was like family, always going that extra mile and willing to do all she could to make my wife comfortable. My wife was transferred to an assisted living memory care unit last week which will be caring for her from now on. I do so appreciate the services provided by Home Instead which allowed me to keep my wife at home this past year.
Home Instead has been a lifesaver for us in caring for my mom who lives in our home with us. We could no longer leave the house unless we took mom with us. It was really a stressful time and we were at our wits end when we called Home Instead. They quickly got us set up last October with help coming a few days a week. Now the Care Professionals are here almost daily and they do an exceptional job providing for mom's needs and adjusting when necessary as she has Alzheimer's. They meet every challenge and keep smiling despite the issues that make come up. Kathleen not only takes care of mom, but has also brought mom chick-fil-a and activity books and things to entertain her. She makes sure everything in mom's rooms are spotless and that's not easy with three pets there as well! Kathleen, Cyndi and Tierra have each worked so well with mom and have developed a positive relationship with her. They are all so sweet, pleasant and easy to work with. If you need help, I highly recommend giving Home Instead a call. They'll work with you to find the right people to care for you or your loved one. The office staff are always quick and responsive when changes are needed and they do their best to accommodate additional care needs as they arise. I've enjoyed working with them.
Mom's care giver is wonderful. Could not be better. They have fun together. Virginia is always doing special things for my mother. They have formed a real friendship. Thank you!
Dana, our aid, has been most comforting in taking great care of my brother whenever she is there. She's been very thoughtful and caring and he has been very happy being in her presence.
Ronald from Home Instead helps out my father-in-law Dan. He comes in the morning and helps Dan with his morning routine, including cooking breakfast and lunch. Dan considers Ronald to be “wonderful, generous, and a hard worker.” I’m thankful that Ronald takes care of the laundry, shopping, and other tasks that otherwise I would have to do on the weekends. We started with Home Instead back in October, and were finally able to get my father into a Senior Living facility just recently. The folks at Home Instead have been wonderful! They were able to set up our initial consultation immediately (the same day after I called), and were able to manage a two-shift-a-day schedule for every day over the past two months. The caregivers have been very helpful to my dad, and the level of care has been fantastic!
A special thanks to Tierra Morris, one of my dad's regular care professionals who has gone out of her way to assist him, even after moving into the facility (she accompanied him to dinner on his first day after the rest of us had to leave). Thank you Tierra, and thanks to everyone at Home Instead!
We have worked with Home Instead for the past year and have been very happy with our experience. The team is friendly and responsive. Our father’s caregiver, Nancy, has been wonderful. She is pleasant and professional. She has helped my father with appointments, shopping, meal prep and light housework. She keeps a log of each day and lets me know how he is doing. We couldn’t ask for more.
We began with Home Instead 3 months ago to be with our mother at home where she has happily lived for over 60 years. She has been independent since our father died six year ago and doing well. My siblings and I have helped out week to week, but at age 90, she needs a little extra care. Home Instead was excellent in assessing our needs and providing a workable schedule. Our caregiver, Jewel, has been a true angel from heaven. Mom has gotten stronger, and we can see a true improvement in her outlook. She looks forward very much to Jewel's visits, and is listening to her good advice for her daily care. This has lifted a burden on us, and has allowed us to spend good, quality time with our Mom. Thank you Jewel and all of the great staff at Home Instead!

When my Uncle ended up in the hospital after a fall at home, we knew he was going to need more physical help after discharge. We reached out to the Home Instead agency and I was immediately impressed with how fast they were able to come to the house (the next day!) for an assessment. Some of the other agencies charge a fee (upwards of $150), but not Home Instead. Their initial assessment is complementary. They were flexible and extremely accommodating with the unique shift that my uncle required for morning and evening care. I could ALWAYS get someone on the phone and they were excellent communicators. They really do add a personal touch to their business! Mary would always return my emails and/or phone calls the same day and was very professional. As is the nature of caregivers, we ran into some issues along the way, but Home Instead was quick to offer solutions to make improvements, address our concerns, and follow up with us to make sure things were going smoothly. Their customer service is top-notch as they strive to make sure their customers and families are happy with their care. We especially liked Harrold. I would highly recommend Home Instead to be in charge of your loved one's care.
I am happy to recommend Home Instead! I contacted them on short notice to assist with care for my aunt who had been in the hospital. The team was so responsive and were happy to come to the hospital to do the assessment there so we didn't have to wait until my aunt got home and could be ready the 1st day. Her care provider, Deborah Johnson was very professional and friendly and my aunt felt very comfortable with her. Fortunately, my aunt's recovery was quicker than we anticipated so she no longer needs support. We won't hesitate to contact Home Instead again - everyone was great and great communication!
Leigh Anne has been working with my mom for a few weeks now and has already gained mom’s trust, and friendship. What a talented, sweet, creative, caring, intelligent woman Leigh Anne is. A broken leg required me to put no weight on that leg for 10 weeks. I hired Home Instead 3 times a week to assist me during that time. Things they did: Help me rearrange items I used regularly to a place and height I could reach from a wheelchair, basic house cleaning, personal grooming, and grocery shopping. Three standout care providers were Gwen, Jackie, and Sheboney. The agency checked in with me regularly and was always responsive to my requests. Home Instead provided a valuable service at a time of great need.
This is a loud shout-out for Wendy. Wendy has been a Home Helper for my sister going on two months now. On day one, it only took a few minutes for Nora to warm up to Wendy's compassionate personality. Nora looks forward to greeting Wendy three days a week, ready for any and everything that needs to be accomplished for each visit. These two ladies truly work well together. Thank you Wendy for all you do for Nora. You are a blessing given to this family.

Having been a customer of Home Instead for approximately 3 years we are extremely happy with their service. The care givers are very kind and helpful to my wife, Dinah Moses. We especially want to mention Susan our present care giver. She and Dinah have very friendly relationship and she is very knowledgeable of her needs.

My mom is being cared for by Denise, a young caregiver, who is patient, and very even keeled with mom. Nothing rattles her. If mom refuses to do something needed, Denise can and will give her a moment to re-set and can redirect her easily. As a former caregiver myself in Suffolk, it gives me peace of mind knowing Denise is there with mom and keeps us aware of any changes we need to know. It is a tough job, but she is excellent.
Home Instead has been a lifesaver for us! With 3 levels of care to choose from we were able to customize the care to fit our needs! Kudos to Mary who does the scheduling and everyone she has sent to us has been first rate. However, a few weeks ago she said she thought she had the perfect fit for us, a lady named Carol, and she was so right! Carol has been a delightful presence in our lives, she is always here on time, and she is also a fabulous cook!! Thanks Home Instead! We would highly recommend you to anyone!!

My mother, who lives with me, has Parkinson’s, and requires assistance that I’m not always available to provide. Contacting Home Instead (Richmond, VA) was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my mother’s care and well-being as well as my peace of mind. The Home Instead staff are always, friendly, kind, and helpful when I call. The caregivers are trained, experienced professionals. But one caregiver in particular has really been amazing with my mom and to all of us.
Kristin provides my mom with personal care as well as companionship. She stays with my mom in the evenings and throughout the night. They really enjoy each other’s company, and my mom looks forward to her arrival. They have good conversation. They watch a lot of TV together, too. I don’t know if Kristin enjoys Shark Tank and The Bachelorette nearly as much as my mom, but you’d never know it if she didn’t! They do watch the occasional movie or documentary together, as well.
But Kristin’s job isn’t always that easy at night. The nasty symptoms of my mom’s Parkinson’s and the medication she takes to treat it, cause major sleep disturbances at times. Mom will experience vivid dreams that she acts out, hallucinations, and confusion after waking up. Kristin’s steady, patient, calming presence is what my mom needs when she has these episodes. My mom trusts her and feels safe with her.
Caregiving is not for the faint of heart. Caregiving for Kristin seems natural, intuitive, enjoyable, and she makes it look so easy; that’s why she is so good at what she does. We are so grateful to have her in our lives.
Home Instead did a wonderful job of helping us care for our elderly Mother who suffered with Parkinson’s. Our goal was to maximize Mom’s quality of life as her age and disease progressed. Home Instead supplied wonderful caregivers who attended to Mom’s basic needs, provided companionship, and ensured Mom was safe and comfortable. I would highly recommend them for anyone in a similar situation.
Home Instead has been helping our family take care of my 94 year old Grandma for several years now! My Grandma has always wanted to stay at home and Home Instead is helping us to honor her wishes . . . We could not do this without them! Home instead was wonderful. I needed someone to stay overnight in the hospital with my dad when he was admitted with sepsis. Mary helped us and was able to find the same person to stay all 4 nights. She made it easy and seamless. Antonio who stayed with my dad was wonderful. He was wet reassuring that everything would be okay and had experience working with people with dementia. They made a difficult situation so much easier. I highly recommend Home Instead!!
Darlene is a rock for our family. She takes care of my Dad and we are always assured that he is safe and comfortable. Darlene has been our primary caregiver for over a year now. She is quick to anticipate anything that is needed for my Dad or within his home environment. Darlene always goes the extra mile when caring for my Dad. H.I. has been GREAT!! They have given me peace of mind I needed with the care of my mother. the caretakers have exceeded my expectations. Ice storm? Didn't stop them!! My mother has really perked up with the companionship and I rest assured knowing she is eating regularly and helped with things around the house. My stress level has taken a nose dive.

The decision to bring senior care into our home was not an easy one. I am out of town too much, though, and if I can't be there, I am comforted by the knowledge that Home Instead staff is providing excellent care. The staff are professional and trustworthy, with a greatly appreciated family quality. My mom is very independent and is treated as such. They seem to know when to step back and when to step in because my mom has never complained of being babied (which she hates when I do to her!) or fearful of being alone. I am comforted to know that the staff are kind, accommodating to my mother's needs and always willing to engage in fun activities with her and her visiting friends. We have found her living experience something to be proud of because of the loving and gracious people surrounding her. She is proud of the newly formed friendships which give her strength and reassurance that there is still plenty of life to live! I cannot thank you enough, Home Instead Staff!

My grandmother has companionship and home helper services through Home Instead Senior Care in Richmond. Pat has truly become her best friend. She's dependable and punctual. The caregiver goes above and beyond to meet her safety, transportation, house cleaning and emotional needs. They color, talk, go to exercise classes and doctor's appointments. Pat even went with her to a surgical procedure, ensuring that she felt comfortable and safe throughout the entire process. We were a bit apprehensive before hiring an agency, but have had our expectations exceeded. Pat's built a great rapport with my grandmother. We're very lucky to have her.
Finding someone to help care for your mother as well as you try to do can be a really scary challenge. I’ve been so relieved and supported by Home Instead’s caregivers. After a nice phone discussion about mom, a perfect caregiver was matched to her and honestly its like the 2 are old church buddies. Mom would have been friends her! I think thats what Home Instead does best-they try to make matches best suited to the clients needs but also their personality which has helped mom stay engaged and happy. Its like an old friend has stopped by to visit. Sometimes weekend help differs from our constant weekday help but we’ve also been pleased with those matches, too. Stop by to see your loved one while the Home Instead caregiver is there. You’ll be so relieved-and if you have a question or suggestion, call HI office and the help is immediate! Being a caregiver takes alot of love, time and patience. I’m so happy I’ve found that extra set of hands with Home Instead. I hope you find comfort with them, too :)
Our 80s-90s mom and dad live in a rural area and we all work full-time. Dad entered hospice care after a brief hospital stay and Mom has dementia. Our daytime caregivers did not have the staffing or experience to handle our new overnight needs. We called Home Instead and talked to Ruth. Our worries were soon over. That was 2 months ago and we are still loving their wonderful, professional staff. The staff is always on time, respectful, helpful and are amazing at keeping us informed of any situations that may need our attention. The office staff is quick to answer any questions we have and return our calls. We highly recommend Home Instead!

My family and and my aunt who was receiving care had a very positive experience with Home Instead. We used their services for over a year to supplement the one-on-one care that was needed. My aunt was in healthcare at one of the "best" continuing care communities in the city, but her basic and emotional/social needs would absolutely not have been met if she/we had only the staff to rely on. Home Instead was diligent in covering shifts when there was an unexpected change in the assigned caregiver due to sickness, etc. and they responded efficiently and with good communication to any changes that were needed from our side in terms of expanding or reducing hours. The warm, friendly and competent women who were with my aunt made the quality of her last year immeasurably better. I highly recommend them!
A senior family member of ours needed to be at VCU every week day for 30 days and all our local family members have full time employment and it was going to be impossible for us to make this journey alone. Home Instead helped us achieve those appointments. We could tell from the first consultation that we had the right company. The Home Instead employee came to our house and talked us through the services and we were so pleased with her professionalism and kindness; even acknowledged our puppy dog. We immediately signed a contract. We contracted with Home Instead to provide a driver to and from VCU. The driver was professional and caring and above all timely throughout the entire duration of our appointments. We could not have gotten through it without the help of Home Instead. Thank you for being a great resource for the Richmond region. We wouldn't hesitate to call you again if we ever needed your services in the future
The home office staff are great to work with - always very professional and helpful, and the aids sent to care for my mother when I have to go out for the day have all been very friendly, competent and compassionate women. I always feel confident leaving my mother in their hands.

I am the daughter of a person who's currently using Home Instead. I need to let you know that we are just so pleased with our service at this time. Joyce is doing an excellent job and I would like to ask for this to be shared with others. She has found the key to our father's happiness which was his belly. She cooks amazing meals for him and keeps the house spotless. She also focuses on his PT exercises and makes sure that he doesn't suffer from atrophy and can get out when it gets warmer. We are very appreciative!

From the first phone call, I was impressed with Home Instead in the Tappahannock, VA region. Jennifer was warm, listened well, and was very responsive. She even stopped by my Mom's home to meet her in person, while we were considering care for my Dad (who was in a rehab center at the time). Home Instead caregivers have provided my Dad 24/7 care for the past month, and are in the process of reducing the hours carefully as he recovers. They have taken him to numerous doctor appointments and other trips as desired - sometimes with little notice as situations necessitated. With Home Instead, I have been able to continue to live and work in Maryland, with the peace of mind that they have us covered when I cannot be there. I can highly recommend the staff in Tappahannock!
