At Home Instead, we know that to provide the best home care in Charleston, SC, we have to support our caregivers with ongoing training. Our team works hard to stay informed and prepared for seniors and the families who love them.
Recently, members of our team attended the Alzheimer’s and Me class led by Jan Hyatt from The ARK – Alzheimer’s Family Support Services, Karen Nichols from Aging Life Care, and Ashley Edwards from The Village at Summerville. The class focused on the real-world understanding caregivers need, like how Alzheimer’s affects communication, why behavior changes occur, how to meet someone in their reality, and how to respond with patience during moments of confusion or frustration. It was exactly what our team needed to confidently support seniors with Alzheimer's and other dementias.
