Home Instead CHHA Training Program

1 Memorial Dr Suite 102, Waretown, NJ 08758

Job Description

Become a NJ Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) - Get Paid While You Train!

Home Instead of Ocean County has served local seniors and families since 2008, helping aging adults remain safely and independently at home. We are looking for dependable, compassionate people who want to build a career in caregiving. Through our paid CHHA training program, you will be hired as a Home Instead employee, complete the required CHHA training and NJ Board of Nursing licensing process, and transition into regular client assignments once licensed.

NO CHHA LICENSE? No problem. We provide paid training to become a NJ Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA).

ALREADY AN ACTIVE NJ CHHA? We are hiring licensed CHHAs too! Search Home Instead of Ocean County on Indeed for our separate "Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA)" posting.

This program is specifically intended for candidates who are committed to continuing employment with Home Instead after licensure and making Home Instead their primary, steady caregiving job. This is not a stand-alone certification program; please apply only if you intend to continue working for Home Instead after becoming licensed as participation in the paid training program includes a post-licensure work commitment with Home Instead.

PAID CHHA TRAINING

  • Paid training begins at $18 per hour.
  • Approximately three weeks of structured, in-person weekday daytime training, including the NJ-approved online CHHA curriculum, Home Instead orientation, NJ Board of Nursing application and fingerprinting coordination, and paid clinical training and skills assessment.
  • You are a paid Home Instead employee throughout the training program and may also participate in shadowing, companion-level assignments, client introductions, and other appropriate training/work activities while working toward CHHA licensure.

AFTER YOU BECOME LICENSED

  • CHHA opportunities generally pay $19-$25+ per hour. Certification expands the client-care duties you may perform and the range of assignments available to you.
  • This position requires regular weekday daytime availability, generally Monday-Friday from approximately 8:00 AM-6:00 PM, and willingness to accept assignments throughout a reasonable Required Service Area established based on your home address and travel routes. Weekend, overnight, and short- or long-term live-in availability is strongly preferred, but does not replace the required weekday daytime availability.
  • Guaranteed Hours Opportunity: Our goal is steady, consistent work. Employees who maintain required availability, Required Service Area, and other program requirements may qualify for a guaranteed minimum weekly scheduling commitment, with opportunities for additional hours.

BENEFITS

  • PTO, 401(k), supplemental insurance, direct deposit/early pay access, paid travel time between client assignments, and all required PPE.
  • Ongoing education, 24/7 administrative support, and opportunities for advancement and additional certifications.

WHERE YOU'LL WORK

  • Assignments are available throughout Ocean County and northern Atlantic County, including but not limited to Lakewood, Brick, Point Pleasant, Jackson, Manchester/Lakehurst, Toms River, Berkeley, Bayville, Seaside/Lavallette, Barnegat, Manahawkin, LBI, Waretown, Tuckerton/Little Egg Harbor, Galloway, Absecon, Pleasantville, and surrounding areas. Your Required Service Area is determined during hiring based on your home address, reasonable travel routes, and scheduling needs.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to fully commit to the approximately three-week paid training program, conducted in person Monday through Friday during daytime hours, and generally maintain Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-6:00 PM availability after licensure.
  • Valid NJ driver's license and your own reliable, insured vehicle that is your primary vehicle for work and is consistently available whenever you are scheduled. A shared or borrowed vehicle whose availability may interfere with your work schedule does not meet this requirement.
  • High School Diploma or GED; NJ resident; authorized to work in the United States.
  • Able to satisfy NJ Board of Nursing CHHA licensing requirements and complete required criminal background screening, drug testing, physical, TB/PPD, MMR, and other applicable onboarding requirements.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

  • Anyone who is dependable, compassionate, enjoys helping older adults, is willing to learn, and is serious about building a career in home care is encouraged to apply.
  • A CHHA license and healthcare experience are not required for this training position. Candidates from a wide range of backgrounds are welcome, including Direct Support Professional, Behavioral Technician, Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant, CNA, Personal Assistant, Elderly Companion, Teacher/Aide, Babysitter/Nanny, Hospitality, Customer Service, and others.
