Meet the Cranes

Jason has had a heart for seniors from a very young age. When he received his driver’s license on his 16th birthday, he promptly visited his grandmother, Damon, at the nursing home to take her to the nearby Piggly Wiggly deli for coffee and her favorite chocolate donut. What started as a simple visit quickly became a weekly tradition that left a lasting impression on Jason.

Years later, while living in California—far from his hometown of Appleton, Wisconsin—Jason and his wife, Dawn, continued that same commitment to serving seniors. After church each week, they visited a nearby nursing home resident, Juanita Spencer, to brighten her day and teach their children the importance of caring for older adults in the community. When Mrs. Spencer passed away a few years later, Jason and Dawn honored her impact on their family by naming their fourth child, Spencer, after her.

After a 21 year career with musical instrument retailer Guitar Center, Jason joined Home Instead in 2013 as President of five franchises in Wisconsin. Today, Jason and Dawn proudly own and operate Home Instead franchises serving Andover , St. Cloud and Duluth, with a satellite office in Stillwater. Across these locations, Jason employs more than 200 Care Professionals and office staff who share a common passion for helping seniors remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes.

Dawn thrives on using her creativity, whether it was in the costume shop a Marquette University during her college years or recently designing and sewing Halloween costumes for a young lady and her special-needs sister for a program sponsored by WisconSibs, in Wisconsin. Designing costumes, putting on Care Pro events and tweaking our Home Instead website and Facebook pages, fit Dawn’s talents and passion for “behind the scenes” work, quite the opposite of her husband Jason!
