Kristopher H., Home Instead Columbia, MD
In Columbia, Kristopher H has become a trusted companion for local seniors and their families. Kristopher comes to us with a background in i was an it systems engineer for many years, building a strong foundation in technology, problem-solving, and process management. after more than a decade in it, i felt called to try something different, so i explored opportunities in the marketing and service industries as well. that time allowed me to develop a broader skill set, including client relationship management, operations, and communication, while learning to adapt quickly to new environments.
eventually, i found my way to home instead, where i now work as a client care consultant. this role allows me to bring together everything i've learned—my technical background, my customer service experience, and my ability to connect with people—to support our clients and care professionals in a meaningful way. i enjoy being part of a team that truly makes a difference in the lives of families, and i take pride in being a reliable resource who can help solve challenges, strengthen relationships, and create positive outcomes.. With 5 Months at Home Instead, Kristopher has built relationships rooted in trust, compassion, and shared joy.
For Kristopher, the reward is in the connection. "Advocating for those who aren't able or would otherwise have a more difficult time advocating for themselves," Kristopher shares. Through these shared moments, Kristopher has learned valuable life lessons, noting, "One lesson that's always stuck with me came from a client who was going through a really difficult time with their health. They reminded me how much even small gestures of kindness and patience can mean to someone who's feeling vulnerable. It taught me that beyond the care we provide, simply being present and listening can make a huge difference. I carry that with me in every interaction, whether it's with clients, their families, or our Care Professionals."
Kristopher's daily goal is simple: ensure every client feels safe, comfortable, and cared for. Skilled in i believe one of my key skills is being able to communicate effectively with everyone involved and ensure things run smoothly. it's a skill that's often overlooked when it comes to someone's well-being and health, but i've seen firsthand how impactful it can be. by taking the time to truly connect and match the right people together on all sides, it creates a genuine and positive experience for everyone involved., Kristopher finds joy in the details of each visit. "Honestly, one of my favorite parts of working in our office is how everyone comes together to tackle the challenges we face day to day. Even when things get difficult, we stand shoulder to shoulder and combine our different skills to solve problems in a positive way. That teamwork not only makes the tough moments easier, but it also leads to better outcomes for everyone involved," Kristopher says of a typical day.
Kristopher praises the local team for their dedication and communication. "What really makes our Home Instead office stand out is that we truly care about the people we interact with every day—not just our clients and their families, but each other as a team. There's a genuine sense of compassion and support here, and it shows in the way we work together. We collaborate closely, help one another through challenges, and that teamwork naturally carries over into the care we provide. Families can feel that we're invested in their loved ones' well-being, and I think that makes all the difference," Kristopher notes. "One thing I'm really proud of is how knowledgeable our team is about each other's roles and responsibilities. Because we take the time to understand how each part of the office works, we can seamlessly step in to help one another when needed. This approach not only keeps things running smoothly but also ensures that no one feels overwhelmed. It's a true team effort, and that support makes a big difference for us and for the families we serve."
In every way, Kristopher reflects the heart of caregiving: consistency, connection, and the quiet pride of knowing you've made someone's life better today.
