While the Home Instead team is out every day providing home care in New Orleans, LA, we also find time to lead the way in community education. After all, when the people surrounding our seniors understand the aging process, it improves the care for every local senior. That’s why we were excited to finally present our Aging Senses Continuing Education Unit (CEU) at The Carrollton. This is a presentation we’ve been wanting to share since 2020, and it was well worth the wait!
"Aging Senses" is an immersive, hands-on simulation designed to help healthcare professionals and caregivers experience firsthand what it feels like to navigate the world with age-related sensory changes. With the expert help of Christopher Jeffery Guthrie-Furst from Apex Hospice, LLC, we guided social workers, case managers, and nurses through various simulations that mimic vision impairment, hearing loss, and loss of dexterity.

Thank you to The Carrollton for hosting us and serving such delicious food, and the dedicated nurses and social workers who spent their afternoon with us. By improving ourselves, we can all provide better care for all our aging neighbors who call New Orleans home.
