At Home Instead of New Orleans, one of our favorite traditions is participating in Be a Santa to a Senior. This program works through community partners, placing gift trees in local businesses. Each ornament on the tree features a senior’s gift request, such as blankets, personal care items, or a favorite treat. Then, generous members of the community select an ornament, purchase the gift, and return it for our team to wrap and deliver.
This year, we adopted 1,532 seniors and delivered over 3,062 gifts across the Greater New Orleans area. Seeing the joy as seniors open their gifts is always the best part because it shows the impact we can have on someone’s holiday season with the help of our community.
