One great way to live independently is through learning essential life skills like cooking. That’s why Home Instead teamed up with the Occupational Therapy team at Encompass Health - Lakeland to teach a fun and interactive class on making tasty and healthy pasta salad bowls! Cooking simple, nutritious meals is vital to staying healthy and independent as we age, and we wanted to make sure the residents walked away with some new skills and flavorful recipes.
Everyone had the chance to get hands-on in the kitchen, creating their personalized pasta bowls with fresh ingredients. Not only was it a fun activity, but it was also a chance to highlight the importance of cooking skills for seniors. Having the ability to prepare your own meals is a BIG step toward maintaining independence.
