A Message from the Owner - Matthew Carden

Hello, my name is Matthew Carden, and I am proud to be the owner ofHome Instead Senior Care in Seneca, South Carolina. This office serves the needs of seniors in Oconee and Pickens counties. This is my second time opening a Home Instead office; I opened my first office in Northeast Georgia (Blairsville, GA) with one of my best friends from grade school, Andrew Williams. The Georgia office has been extremely successful in helping seniors and adults with disabilities, thus allowing me the opportunity to branch off and open the office here in South Carolina.

I am originally from Lilburn, GA, which is located just outside the perimeter of Atlanta. I lived there for most of my life until I moved to Sarasota, FL; this is where I met my wife Aubrey. Aubrey and I have been married since September of 2005; we were blessed with a beautiful daughter in 2011. Before finding my calling with Home Instead Senior Care, I worked for an independent insurance agency. After several years of building my client base, I worked my way up to a Regional Manager position and ran my own office; then my life changed. In September of 2006, my brother was involved in a near fatal car crash - the doctors were not sure if he was going to make it. Aubrey and I packed up, turned my insurance business over to my business partner, and we returned to Atlanta to help my parents and be with my brother. My brother stayed in ICU for over 50 days; he was in the hospital for 88 days total. My wife and I became the overnight caregivers at the hospital. We would come in the late evening and stay through the night checking on my brother. This allowed my parents to go home and get some sleep and get out of the hospital for a few hours each day. When my brother was ready to leave the hospital, he needed a lot of help. I became one of his primary caregivers - helping him get out of the bed, get dressed, go to the restroom, while also providing transportation to and from physical therapy, preparing meals, and assisting him with his daily living activities. To answer everyone's question, yes, my brother is doing much better today. Thank you.

During this time, I saw how stressful it was for my parents, as well as the extended family. Seeing the support that my wife and I could provide to my parents is what sparked my interest in finding something that could help families like my own. I searched for some time until I reunited with a friend from grade school, Andrew Williams, who was working with a company called Home Instead Senior Care. Home Instead Senior Care was the answer that I had been looking for - from their mission to be a trusted source of personal care and companion/sitter services, to their values - everything aligned with my goals and what I was looking for in a company.
I chose Seneca because I love the beauty of the Upstate, and I feel that there is a need for quality senior care here. My goal is to provide the highest quality in-home non-medical care in the Upstate. If you or your loved one is looking for personalized non-medical care please give our office a call at 864-888-2929. We would love to show you how we can help you or your loved one receive the help that they need and to stay at home for as long as possible.
