Jim Samuelson - Co-Owner

Jim Samuelson - Co-Owner

Since opening the Ocala Home Instead Senior Care office in 2004, Jim has become a knowledgeable resource to the seniors of Ocala and Marion County.

As a Certified Senior Advisor, Jim has specialized knowledge concerning aging and the important health, financial and social issues that affect the majority of seniors. In order to become and remain a Certified Senior Advisor in good standing, a CSA must pledge to adhere to the following standard: Competence, Honesty, Trustworthiness, Fairness, and Professionalism.

Jim is currently serving as the Chair for the Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease. This annual event raises over $50,000 in order to support the effort of the Alzheimer’s Association and involves over 600 participants.

As a business owner, Jim is actively involved in the Ocala community. Jim is an active member of the Ocala Rotary Club and the Ocala/Marion County Chamber and Economic Partnership. As the Past President of the Ocala Rotary Club, he currently serves as the Area Governor for all of the Marion County Rotary Clubs. He is a Board Member for the Heart of Florida Chapter of the Florida State Guardian Association and the Life South Advisory Board.

Mary Samuelson - Co-Owner

Mary Samuelson - Co-Owner

​For over 25 Years Mary was a pre-school teacher in both New York City and Maryland. In 1997, Mary retired from teaching in order to volunteer at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Atlanta. She also has experience working with children with Autism.

As the co-owner of Home Instead Senior Care Mary is responsible for our Client Relationships and Quality Assurance. Since founding the Ocala Office Mary has lead the development or our exceptional CAREGiver Team. She has an in depth understanding of the needs of seniors and has worked successfully with our clients and families. Mary regularly visits our clients and CAREGivers providing hands on guidance and information.

Mary leads the PEAQ Quality Program for the Ocala Office. The purpose of PEAQ is to continually measure, improve and recognize quality. The PEAQ program is conducted by J.D. Power and Associates. The results for the Ocala Office have consistently lead the entire Home Instead Senior Care franchise system for total client and CAREGiver overall satisfaction. ​

Lyn Browning - Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator

Lyn is responsible for hiring, training and retention of our CAREGiver team.  “As a previous  Caregiver, I know it takes exceptional people who love and enjoy seniors to be good Caregivers.  It is my goal to make Home Instead Senior Care stand out above the rest by hiring and training our Caregivers to give the highest quality service to our clients.  I believe it can be a rewarding experience for both the Caregiver and the client.  I always treated each client as I would if they were by own parent or grandparent. I enjoyed listening and learning from their past memories as they shared them.  I tried to make each day happy and fun, and received far more back than I gave.  So, it is my passion to find Caregivers who have a servant’s heart for seniors.”

Lyn has lived in Florida for over 30 years and moved to Ocala several years ago to be near family.  When not spending time with family and friends she is very active in her Church.  She has served as a deputy sheriff and has years of accounting and office administration experience before moving to the Ocala area.

Clara - Scheduling Coordinator

My name is Clara and my job here at HISC is to match the Client and CareGiver so they are compatable with each other, as the Client’s family relies on us to help their loved ones during this period of their lives and have them feel like we are family to them.

So that is why it is Personal to me.

I had been in the Health Care field for 50 yrs in the Business area.  Retired in 2005, but went back to work after having a year off. Continued to work for a few more years then quit to be CareGiver to my Brother who was dying of lung cancer. After he passed away, I was looking for a job again, when I was hired with HISC. I love doing what I do here and hope to continue to do it for a long while.

Sunny - Home Care Specialist

Sunny - Home Care Specialist

Sunny is a native Floridian and has been a resident of Marion County since 1992.  She has been married to her husband Ray for 31 years.  She has an extensive background in business management, customer service and sales.

As Home Care Consultant, Sunny’s primary responsibility is to promote and support Home Instead Senior Care in the Marion County community.  Her personal experience as a caregiver to her terminally ill mother gives her first-hand understanding of the wide range of emotions and challenges facing seniors and their families.  She has a heart of genuine caring and concern for those facing such difficulties.

Sunny’s primary goal is to make a positive difference in the live she touches.

Ellen - Office Administrator

Ellen - Office Administrator I moved to Ocala almost 18 years ago from Chicago with my husband Rich.  I have a dental background, as a dental assistant and in the front office for over 35 years.  After leaving dentistry, I cared for my aging parents, commuting between Florida and Wisconsin as often as needed.  I joined Home Instead Senior Care 1 year ago as Administrative Assistant.

Working with our CAREGivers, senior’s and their families to provide the best possible care so the clients can remain in their home, is very rewarding.  I love to get out to visit with our clients and CAREGivers whenever possible.  This is what makes it personal to me.

When not at Home Instead, I enjoy riding my Harley with my husband and friends.
