​Jay and Alyssa Maria opened Home Instead Senior Care in Wilkes-Barre, PA in 2003.  Jay was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre and decided it would be a great place to live and raise a family.  Jay witnessed the great difficulty his parents faced in caring for his grandfather with Alzheimer's disease.  "After my grandmother died, my grandfather declined mentally and emotionally.  He stopped by our house all the time.  It was clear he was lonely and was looking for company."  Seeing the need for companionship first hand motivated Jay to open up his own Home Instead Senior Care franchise.  Alyssa works at Home Instead Senior Care part-time.  Her primary focus is to communicate with referral providers, letting them know about Home Instead's exceptional service.  Jay.Maria@Homeinstead.com

Heather Dewees, Client Care Manager As Client Care Manager, Heather ensures that the quality of our service is EXCEPTIONAL.  She will meet with you and your family to determine your needs and preferences.  Going forward, Heather will follow up with you and your family making sure that the quality of our service exceeds your expectations.

Jackie Simonson, Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator

Jackie Simonson, Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator

​Jackie's role is so important to our company.  She carefully selects our CAREGivers by making sure they pass all the necessary screening and rigorous interview processes.  Our CAREGivers are required to pass a PA state police criminal background check and a county level background check.  They are required to provide six references, both personal and professional, and pass a drug screening.  In addition, Jackie checks their driving records with the DMV.  You have peace of mind knowing that Jackie has thoroughly screened each and every CAREGiver.

Rachael Roppa, Training Coordinator

Rachael Roppa, Training Coordinator

Rachael leads our 6-part CAREGiver training programs.  She ensures our CAREGivers are educated about a wide variety of topics.  Our CAREGivers learn about Alzheimer's and Dementia, personal care, senior illnesses and conditions, and much more.  With Rachael's efforts, our CAREGivers are prepared to provide the very best care possible.​

Bridget Ferdinand, Service Coordinator

Bridget understands the needs of seniors and CAREGivers.  Bridget gets familiar with the unique talents and capabilities of each CAREgiver.  She carefully matches clients and CAREGivers to ensure the best fit!  Bridget lives in Wilkes-Barre with her husband and son.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.

Peggy Wilson, Asst. Service Coordinator

Peggy carefully matches clients with CAREGivers.  She knows the importance of making a great match. In addition to scheduling, Peggy performs many office functions such as service inquiries and clerical tasks. Peggy lives in Taylor with her fiancé, Mike, and their five daughters.
