Danny Hedgepeth has been the Co-Owner and Administrator of Home Instead Senior Care in Athens, Georgia since June, 2013. He and his wife Sherry reside in Bogart, Georgia. They have one married daughter, two grandchildren and two 12 year old Springer Spaniels. Danny's background is serving in ministry of a Full time pastor from 1979 until 2012. He served as Senior Pastor of congregations ranging from 75 to 1700 members. Danny recieved his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Charleston Southern University in 1976, Masters of Divinity with Classical Languages from Southeastern Baptist Seminary in Wake Forest North Carolina in 1982, and Doctor of Ministry classroom work completed at Southern Seminary from 2000-2003. Hedgepeth has done additional graduate work at Princeton Theological Seminary in the area of forgiveness in family relationships. He currently speaks at various churches and groups concerning the need for congregational involvement in respite care for family caregivers.
Hedgepeth wrote "Ministering to Families who are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's Disease for The Christian Index in February, 2016. This article led to an agreement with Lifeway Publishing to write columns for "Mature Living" magazine on how local congregations can minister to family caregivers. Hedgepeth's columns will be read by 250,000 readers a month beginning in January, 2017.
Hedgepeth is doing continual study in the field of Gerontology, and is a member of the Southern Gerontology Society.
Danny is an avid golfer, walker, and amateur golf historian.
Sherry Hedgepeth had served over 34 years as a Special Education teacher prior to becoming a Home Instead Co-Owner in June, 2013. Sherry was recognized for her dedication in the classroom on a regional and statewide basis. WLFJ Television in Augusta, Georgia recognized Sherry as Golden Apple Nominee for her work in Special Education at Mossy Creek Elementary School in North Augusta, South Carolina. She was also a finalist for South Carolina Teacher of the Year in 1994. Sherry is Summa Cum Laude graduate of Winthrop University in 1976.
Sherry has brought the same passion for excellence that was exhibited in the classroom into the area of caring for senior adults. Sherry has the ablity to see the needs of older adults and matching the right caregivers to give them proper care. Sherry also oversess the education program of the caregivers of Home Instead Senior Care of Athens and monitors certifications of employees.
Sherry and her husband Danny live in Bogart, Georgia.
Heather Tracy has been working to improve the lives of senior adults for the past nine years. Heather was named Director of Meals on Wheels for Athens Community Council on Aging in 2007. She oversaw volunteers distributing 250 meals daily to older adults in the Athens and surrounding counties. Heather has served in various positions at Athens Community Council on Aging, and was named Director of Operations in 2013. She worked in that position until July, 2016.
Heather accepted the position of Client Care Coordinator with Home Instead Senior Care in October, 2016. Home Instead Senior Care is very fortunate to have someone with Heather's overseeing the care of our clients.
Heather is a native of Watkinsville, Georgia and a 2000 graduate of the University of Georgia. She and her husband Scott live in Oconee County with their daughter Izetta and son Sam.
Naomi started with us in 2017 and we are so glad to have her with us!
Danielle has been the Office Coordinator for Home Instead since June of 2016. She has a passion for helping others and has a background with caregiver experience with adult seniors, as well.
Natalie Wooten discovered she was passionate about helping senior adults in 2014 when she became the Community Relations Director at Great Oaks Senior Living in Monroe, Georgia. She worked in that position until 2017 and then accepted the position of Community Relations Director with Home Instead Senior Care in July of 2017. Natalie is very active in the Athens community and is always striving to find opportunities to engage with and help others.
Natalie received her Bachelor of Liberal Arts Degree from Clayton State University and she and her husband Jeffery live in Monroe, Georgia with their daughter Lakelyn.
Natalie enjoys attending church, gardening, and spending time with her family.
