Jim Pitzner, Owner, President

Jim Pitzner, Owner, President

Jim Pitzner is the owner and President of the Maplewood and Mendota Heights franchise offices of Home Instead Senior Care.  Jim's career has included sales and marketing experience as well as owning his own E-Commerce business for over 10 years.  However, his early experience being a CAREGiver in an Alzheimer's and Dementia facility for nearly 4 years while attending college at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse made a lasting impression on him.  It was during that time that Jim developed a passion for serving seniors and is ultimately what led him to becoming a franchise owner for Home Instead Senior Care.

 "I believe strongly in providing excellent service to our senior community.  At Home Instead we are committed to helping seniors to maintain their independence and quality of life with compassion and integrity."

 Jim enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah and two sons Cole and Drew.


Sonie Giesen, V.P. and General Manager

Sonie Giesen, V.P. and General Manager

​Sonie Giesen managed Jim’s E-Commerce business for 7 years and joined his team at Home Instead Senior Care in May of 2015 as V.P. and General Manager.  Sonie has a degree in Pharmacy​ along with varied international experience in finance and accounting and has worked in long term acute care facilities caring for seniors. She drives toward streamlining processes and creating an efficient, positive workplace.

Sonie enjoys spending time with her husband and son, travel, learning languages and working with her Bonsai trees.​

Lauren Bednar, Home Care Consultant

Lauren Bednar, Home Care Consultant

Lauren joined the Home Instead team in July 2015 as a Home Care Consultant. She is responsible for the sales, marketing and outreach efforts for the office. Previously, she worked for an independent living senior community in sales and marketing where her passion for serving the senior population grew.

Lauren earned a bachelor's degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management from the University of Wisconsin- Stout in 2009 and began her career in hospitality working at various hotels in Wisconsin.

Lauren resides in Hugo with her husband, Rich, and daughters Molly and Hannah and dog Chloe. When she's not working, Lauren enjoys gardening, cooking, spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors. 


Jenna Sagataw, Lead Service Coordinator

Jenna Sagataw, Lead Service Coordinator

​Jenna joined Home Instead Senior Care as a Service Coordinator in November 2015. She has worked in a medical office setting for five years as well as three years as an Office Coordinator in the Home Care industry. 

Jenna has a great compassion and sincere respect for seniors and believes it a great honor to provide care for elders. At the age of twelve, her Grandmother who raised her was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. ​It was devastating and truly heartbreaking to see her loved one deteriorate so rapidly. She is very proud that her Grandparents instilled such meaningful values into her life. 

​Jenna is a native of Minneapolis, MN. She enjoys spending time with her two sons, boyfriend and most of all her two beautiful Granddaughters who she loves to spoil. Jenna also loves football, basketball, traditional Country and R & B music. Her ultimate favorite past time though is shopping for shoes.



Katrina James, Assistant Service Coordinator

Katrina James, Assistant Service Coordinator

Katrina started as a CAREGiver with Home Instead in November 2015, joined the Weekend Service Coordinator team in March 2016, and moved into the office as a full time Service Coordinator June 2016.  In this position Katrina helps with staffing communications as well as auditing and submitting long term care insurance claims on behalf of our clients.  Katrina has always loved working with people in a care giving position (for all ages) which you see in her history of working in childcare, as a church youth leader and CAREGiver. 

 

In her free time Katrina enjoys spending time with her daughter Gideon and son Azriel, going out dancing with her husband (swing, bachata, cumbia, ballroom, etc.), reading, writing short stories, as well as taking and editing amateur photos.  As time allows, Katrina loves to study and experience various cultures from around the world and in our own community.



Katie Langman- Assistant Client Care Coordinator

Katie Langman- Assistant Client Care Coordinator

Katie joined Home Instead Senior Care in October of 2016, as an Assistant Client Care Coordinator. In this position, Katie works with client care communications. She also audits and submits long-term care insurance claims on behalf of our clients.

 

Katie earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends in Chetek, Wisconsin. Her hobbies include fishing, golfing, and photography.



Tracy Allen, Lead Client Care Coordinator

Tracy Allen, Lead Client Care Coordinator

Tracy Allen joined Home Instead Senior Care in 2010 as a CAREGiver. In 2011 she moved into the office to work within the Staffing Department and transitioned into Lead Staff Coordinator until the fall of 2014. Her passion has always been working with people in person.  Valuing the face-to-face connection, she decided to move into the role of a Client Care Coordinator and is now the Lead Client Care Coordinator. Her focus is on ensuring high standards are met with all aspects of our clients' care: coordinating services, developing standards and processes, and communicating with all members of our clients' teams. Her concentration has primarily been on the care of our St. Paul and Southern Metro-Area clients.

Tracy is very close with her family; from her sons to her grandmother and everyone in between. Outside of spending time with family she loves to read books, watch old movies, and going to the theater with her mom. She has a degree in Sign Language Interpreting and has worked with seniors for over 12 years




Vickie Preuss, Client Care Coordinator

Vickie Preuss, Client Care Coordinator

Vickie joined Home Instead Senior Care in July 2014 as the northern territory Client Care Coordinator. Some of Vickie's duties include meeting with potential clients and families to discuss their needs, taking telephone inquiries, conduct Care Consultations and Client and CAREGiver introductions, provide Quality Assurance visits and phone calls and work with other team members to coordinate client's care and create and maintain client's records.

Vickie is married to Mark. She has 2 sons Wayne and Gary and a daughter Kristen all of which are married. Vickie's sons and their wives have blessed her with 5 beautiful grandchildren.

When Vickie isn't working she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, relaxing at the lake, taking care of her 2 yellow labs "Bear & Daisy", hanging out with girlfriends and taking road trips.​


Moriah Doyle, Director of Human Resources

Moriah Doyle, Director of Human Resources

Moriah has been with Home Instead Senior Care since June 2012. Moriah started her career with Home Instead as a Staffing Coordinator and is now  the Director of Human Resources. Moriah oversees the Recruiting, Engagement and Training department. The R/E/T Department is responsible for hiring, training, on boarding and engaging people to be succesful CAREGivers. She also helps with compliance to our State licensure and corporate standards.

Moriah received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Her close relationships with her grandparents and great-grandparents when she was growing up inspired her to join the senior care industry when she graduated.

Moriah enjoys watching movies, playing card games, and spending time with her family. Her favorite thing to do is travel – especially to warmer climates! ​​


Nick Leeves, Retention and Engagement Coordinator

Nick Leeves, Retention and Engagement Coordinator

Nick joined Home Instead Senior Care in August, 2007 as a CAREGiver and then moved on as a Recruitment Coordinator, conducting phone screenings and interviews with potential CAREGivers.  For the past four years Nick has been the Retention Coordinator dealing with CAREGiver compliance issues.

Nick was born in the UK and has a degree from Hertfordshire College of Agriculture & Horticulture in St Albans, (originally) an old Roman town just north of London.

Nick enjoys spending time with his family, walking their two dogs, reading, watching movies, cycling and listening to classical music.  He is married and has two sons.


Carole Fagrelius, Training and Engagement Coordinator

Carole Fagrelius, Training and Engagement Coordinator

Carole joined Home Instead Senior Care in September 2016, as Training and Engagement Coordinator.  Within her role, she trains new CAREGivers on Policies and Procedures and on responsibilities of caregiving for seniors in their homes.  Carole also conducts Monthly Seminars and Alzheimer's training for our existing CAREGiver staff.  Additionally, she manages and oversees our CAREGiver Mentorship Program and our CAREGiver In-Services Program.  Carole graduated from the University of MN with a B.A. degree and also completed graduate coursework in Life Span Psychology from the University of St. Thomas.  She has worked previously in the senior services industry and continues to be passionate about caring for our senior population and supporting and inspiring those individuals who provide care.

 

A native of St. Paul, Carole especially enjoys her work knowing that we as a whole team provide great support to the community we live in.  Personal activities of enjoyment are time spent with husband Tom, daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Sam, as well as nature activities, cooking, gardening, travel and time spent at the family cabin in northern Minnesota.



Lisa Anderson, Accounting Coordinator

Lisa Anderson, Accounting Coordinator

Lisa's love for seniors began with her close relationship to her grandparents, motivating her to join the senior care industry in high school.  Lisa started her career with Home Instead Senior Care in May, 2007 as a CAREGiver. In August of that year, Lisa moved into the Recruitment Coordinator position which she held for many years until moving into the role of Accounting Coordinator in July, 2014. In this position, Lisa completes billing, payroll, accounts receivable and payable, in addition to other administrative projects.  

Lisa received her Bachelor's Degree from Bethel University. She resides in Roseville, MN where she actively participates in her church. Lisa is very close to her family and is thankful to live close to her parents as well as her two brothers and sisters in law.

On weekends, Lisa is regularly in Duluth visiting her grandparents. She also loves cheering on the Minnesota Twins, seasonal outdoor activities, exploring the Northshore, antiquing, crafting, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Lynda Valentine, Receptionist

​Lynda joined Home Instead Senior Care February 2013. She started as a Caregiver and eventually split her time working in the office assisting in the Recruitment Department. She is now the full-time Receptionist. 

Lynda has a 2 year degree in Legal Administration. She enjoys reading, cooking/baking, walking, movies, cross-country skiing, being at the cabin, spending time with family, friends and most of all her son, Blake who is the U.S. Navy. ​


Leslee Sarazen, Administration Assistant

Leslee Sarazen, Administration Assistant

Leslee joined Home Instead Senior as a CAREGiver in May 2014. In 2015, she began assisting in the office with paperwork, filing and scanning as well as enjoying her role as a current CAREGiver.

Leslee attended Bemidji State College majoring in History. Her hobbies are golf, reading and working with dogs to become visiting dogs for nursing homes.​


Ann Petersen, R.N.

Ann Petersen, R.N.

Ann has been employed with Home Instead Senior Care since March 2013.  As an RN, she trains new CAREGivers and does in-home client visits including CAREGiver supervisory visits.

Ann received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.  She enjoys walking, working out at the gym, and keeping up with current events.  Her family includes her son and daughter-in-law who live in Colorado.


Randee McCabe, On Call Service Coordinator

Randee McCabe, On Call Service Coordinator

Randee became a CAREGiver with Home Instead Senior Care in 2011 and has been serving as a Weekend Service Coordinator since 2013, giving her ample opportunity to assist and support CAREGivers, clients and families outside of business hours. She has always enjoyed helping people. Randee previously taught third grade for a year, served in various student life positions on college campuses and began her lifetime career as a mother.  

Randee has a BS in Chemistry and a MA in Higher Education, but has learned even more from her interactions with people and their stories. Some of Randee's favorite storytellers include her husband, Ben and three children, Johnathon, Eddie and Luanna.


Jim McGrory On Call Service Coordinator

Jim McGrory On Call Service Coordinator

​Jim serves as both a Caregiver and an On-Call Service Coordinator. As a Caregiver he acts to engage his clients in meaningful ways to optimize their ability to share experiences, remain physically and mentally active, and to remain as independent as possible.

 In his role as an On-Call Service Coordinator, he enjoys helping other caregivers, clients and their families resolve unexpected issues which may arise during non-office hours.

 Outside of work,  Jim volunteers with the National Ski Patrol and with an American Canoe Association/USA Canoe-Kayak youth paddling club. His interests include his family, cooking, gardening, skiing, canoeing, running and traveling.

 Prior to joining HISC, Jim spent a number of years working as a market research analyst for an independent market research firm and also managed a small cabinet and millwork production company. 

 He joined HISC in January, 2015. He and his family live near Como Park.

 



Mai Yer Lee On Call Service Coordinator

Mai Yer Lee On Call Service Coordinator

​Mai Yer saw Home Instead Senior Care as a wonderful opportunity where she can contribute and give back to the growing elderly community and joined first as a part-time CAREgiver in 2015. In addition to caregiving, she later advanced into a member of the staffing department and currently serve in a team of On-call Service Coordinators. The most fulfilling endeavor of her work is experiencing firsthand the positive impact CAREgivers have in the lives of seniors. Mai Yer graduated from the University of Minnesota and enjoys traveling to new places; providing math homework help to students at Hosmer Library; and playing competitive badminton.


Sara Smith On Call Service Coordinator

Sara Smith On Call Service Coordinator

Sara became a CAREGiver November 2016 and soon after added the role of On Call Service Coordinator.  She was introduced to Home Instead by a friend of hers whose mother had Alzheimer's and who loved the care and service that was provided to her by the CAREGivers here at Home Instead.  Sara was intrigued by this company, applied, was hired and has never regretted her decision to become part of this team that put seniors first and do their best in providing the best care for the seniors and their families.  Sara believes that we can all learn a lot from our seniors and that they deserve our utmost respect.  Helping seniors has brought a lot of joy and happiness in Sara's life.

 

Sara is currently in school to become a License Practical Nurse and will graduate from her program in December of 2017.  She hopes to continue to work with seniors after she becomes an official nurse.  Sara loves to hang out with her four children, take walks, read, and watch Poldark on PBS.
