Our Stories

J Lewis Ruiz 6 2021

From being hired to doing all the hiring!

Janette Lewis Ruiz joined the Home Instead Vista family in 2019 as a CAREGiver. She had spent years working with developmentally disabled children and felt her skills and passion for people would transition nicely into caring for our aging population. By the spring of 2020, there was a spark in Janette that brought life to our team and to our office. She moved into an Administrative Assistant role. Eager to learn but new to an office environment, she adapted quickly and soon found a love for helping with our recruiting and training efforts. By the fall of 2020 the Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator position became available and it was natural to ask Janette to step into the role fulltime. One of our favorite things is to hear Janette training new CAREGivers. She loves what she does, and she loves inspiring others.

N Rushton 6 2021

Once CAREGiver of the Year now a scheduling guru!

We love when a CAREGiver transfers from one Home Instead office to the Vista office. Nichole Rushton started with Home Instead in 2017 and when she relocated to Southern California in 2018, the first stop was Home Instead. Eager to continue her CAREGiving career, she quickly became one of our top-rated CAREGivers and was named CAREGiver of the Year in 2019. Because of her kind demeanor and her ability to resonate with clients and other CAREGivers, we approached Nichole with the opportunity to takeover as our Service Coordinator in summer 2021. She embraced the idea of learning something new, a predictable schedule, and the chance to be part of a day-to-day team. And every now and then she still gets to help out in the field.

J Padilla 6 2021

From part-time to full-time and everything in between!

When Janette Padilla started her Home Instead journey as a CAREGiver in 2017, she never anticipated that she would one day be a key player. A young woman with a baby on the way, continuing as a CAREGiver was going to be challenge so when she was asked about working the on-call phones she jumped at the opportunity. It gave her flexibility to be at home with her newborn and to still be part of the Home Instead team. In 2020, Janette was promoted to On-Call Supervisor and has served as administrative support in the office four days a week. Her ability to solve scheduling puzzles, respond to numerous Service Inquiries, and answer phones after hours six days a week is impressive… and the best part is she really enjoys the flexibility and being part of a team.
