When Imelda first joined us, I had just returned from the hospital where I had brain surgery. My daughter would have been alone with my care; however, after picking up my prescriptions she entered a very busy home as the caregivers were cleaning, orgainizing and preparing my shower. Melanie was very grateful as Imelda softly explained what they were doing and that she could just watch and learn. Imelda was most comforting to both of us. My thinking skills were limited for the first two weeks so Home Instead's help made the difference. Melanie called here recently and got to talk briefly to Imelda.I recently broke my hip and Imelda has helped with doctor appointments and encouraging on my walks.

She spent weeks in rehab and still does OT, PT, and gets help showering from a home health agency, but the big problem is that insurances do not cover day care. The number of visits and length of care time as well as the time that each provider spends with her is dictated by the insurance, and is often lacking in not just quantity but also quality. Home Instead helps fill in the gaps that home health has created, and allows our family peace of mind so that when the insurance stops home health care, my Mom will continue to get the care she needs at am affordable price. We chose Home Instead for my Mom after interviewing several other agencies including the facility that she lives at that would have overcharged her for showering assistance and not even given her an hour of their time for twice the price. Mom wants to give a shout out to her caregiver Bobbie for a great job and her patience with her. I urge anyone reading this and who may be dissatisfied with the services that their elderly parent is (or is not) receiving to look into the services that Home Instead offers, and talk with a rep who will answer your questions. I know you will be impressed...we certainly were!

- By Cathy M.When I first turned to HomeInstead for help, I really did not realize how close I was to a breakdown. My husband was just out of rehab for a broken hip and I had been told that he needed 24/7 monitoring. I was completely overwhelmed and at my wit’s end when Bob brought Julie to me. She saved my life and my sanity, not to mention how instrumental she has been in my husband’s recovery! Seemingly little things, such as the fresh cup of coffee she brings to me in my office, sometimes bring tears to my eyes. She literally gives me a respite every time she comes! But even more important is how well she takes care of my husband, getting him out of bed in the morning, making sure he has a healthy breakfast (me too), working with him to do the exercises prescribed by his therapists, coaxing him to take his vitamins and, before she leaves, giving him healthy snacks to tide him over to dinner. I don’t know how they did it, but Home Instead couldn’t have made a better match for us. It feels like Julie is a member of the family. Even our dogs and cats have fallen in love with her! They literally dance when she comes through the door! I would say calling Home Instead was one of the wisest choices I have ever made in my life! The peace of mind it has given me is priceless!

- By KimberlyThe day we found Bob and Makalla Fritz, of Home Instead Senior Care at Peoria and 43rd Avenue, it felt like the clouds parted, choral music started playing, and a beautiful ray of bright sunlight came flooding into our lives; in all seriousness, they've been a God send.
My beloved friend of 38 years, my son's Godfather, a brilliant man whose been fighting the good fight against Parkinson's Disease and Lewy bodies Dementia, reached the point of needing 24 X 7 care. My husband and I live in Northern California, "Brian" lives in Phoenix.
Not meaning to whine, but finding quality care was a nightmare. I learned from each mistake, but it was painful, and it was tough on Brian.
And THEN I was given the names of Bob & Makalla and Home Instead. "You REALLY need to call these people..!"
From the very first conversation, you have NO IDEA how wonderful it was... Bob came over and met Brian, and TALKED TO HIM with me (I'm Brian's Durable Power of Attorney, etc)... Bob wanted to KNOW who Brian was, vs. just talking OVER him as though he weren't there.
Bob and Makalla were acutely interested in what kind of person Brian was, did he like lots of dialogue, or did he prefer to be around someone who was more quiet? What were his interests? Did he enjoy watching sports on TV? Or did he enjoy watching movies and, if so, what genre?
The Care Givers they placed with Brian were INCREDIBLE matches, personality wise. And Bob & Makalla were SO WONDERFUL about taking notes to improve Brian's experience at EVERY JUNCTURE, finding a way to give feedback to their people in a way that built their confidence vs. making them feel like they were being complained about, with the goal ALWAYS BEING TO FINE TUNE AND MAKE THE BEST POSSIBLE EXPERIENCE for Brian! I'm very direct (but I have a good heart) and Bob and Makalla WELCOMED and in fact INVITED ALL FEEDBACK, and were the epitome of professional when receiving it.
Home Instead Senior Care is an EXCEPTIONAL care giving company, they were as flexible as they could be, their communication was excellent, and I can't offer anything up other than pure praise for them. They handled themselves with the upmost integrity at every touch point, and were absolutely COMMITTED to assuring their caregivers were the epitome of professional, kind, and competent. If EVER there was even the tiniest issue, it was resolved immediately, with feedback at every juncture.
Sorry to run on, but I can't say enough positive things about them. They're incredible.

We had round the clock caregivers within 48 hours. The communication is wonderful. Bob, Makalla and Michele are there to answer your questions and to listen to any suggestions you may have. They also respond very quickly if you need to adjust the care giving schedule. All you have to do is call or email them. The care givers are wonderful, hardworking and so kind. The care they provide is top notch. They know how to keep busy without constantly telling them what is needed. We are so blessed to have found such a wonderful group of hardworking people who really care and have compassion for the elderly.
