Meet Our Team

Laura Cen - Owner

Laura Cen, Owner

Prior to joining Home Instead, Laura worked as a financial advisor after graduating from University of Washington with a business degree. She decided to pursue her passion in helping others by going back to school to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Laura worked at Providence in Everett as a staff RN after nursing school. Later she moved to Evergreen in Kirkland to be closer to home. There she worked as a staff RN and later as a home health nurse before starting her venture with Home Instead Senior care. Laura enjoys helping seniors and hearing their stories.

In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and her dog. She loves cooking, hiking, bicycling and gardening.

Team member Marquel

Marquel Basurto - Recruitment and Training Manager

Marquel was born and raised in Everett and went to Mariner High. After studying computer networking and engineering at Pierce College, he began to feel a pull to do more. Marquel wanted to help the members in his community in any way possible. He started as a caregiver and found his way to the office where he gets to help our clients by hiring the best caregivers.

Whenever not working, he is with his family and friends creating memories and exercising different traditions. He enjoys photography.  On his free time not with family, friends, you can find him binging Netflix and taking long walks around the neighborhood.

Team member Jessy

Jessy ForsmoShadid - Scheduler

Jessy was born in California but was raised in Idaho for majority of her childhood. She's had a lot of experience helping and taking care of people. While studying sociology at the University of Idaho, she was a caregiver and worked with the Boys and Girls Club. After she moved to Washington in 2017, she quickly found a job as a housing case manager in Seattle. Though the work was rewarding, Jessy needed a different pace when it came to helping people. That's how she found herself here!

Jessy is a writer and a baker. She also has a deep love for singing and watching documentaries about people's life stories. Being an introvert, you can find her on the weekend chilling with her cats, Ollie and Theo.

Team member Shelley

Shelley Levin - Office Coordinator

Shelley recently joined our Home Instead team as Office Coordinator. Having spent most of her life in Victoria, BC Canada, Shelley attended Camosun College, and has worked as an Executive Assistant with the Provincial Government, Ministry of Education, Victoria Community Foundation, and Premera Blue Cross.

In addition to raising three children (two of which are now adults), Shelley and her husband support their teenaged son's pitching career with a travel select baseball team. In her spare time, Shelley writes novels, takes development courses, and creates and sells wool paintings and needle felt art locally. And because a home is not complete without a fur baby, completing their family is former cat calendar model, Willoughby. And while his mousing skills are lacking, he does make up for it in sweetness.

Team member Ashely

Ashley Timmer - Client Care Coordinator

Ashley has been in Healthcare for many years as a caregiver and Medication Technician.
