Home Instead Care Professional (Caregiver)

Home Instead is looking for individuals with caring hearts, a strong desire to help others and some caregiving experience in the Saint Joseph, MO area. We are seeking applicants with weekend availability, to ensure consistent, high quality care for the aging adults we serve.

Home Instead provides a variety of services to help aging adults stay in their homes safely, while maintaining their independence. Our team of caregivers share a positive attitude, and a desire to do fulfilling, meaningful work that makes a difference in the lives of our clients and their families.

Qualifications to be a Caregiver:

• Compassion, patience, and empathy.
• Problem solving.
• Collaborative nature, ability to work as part of a team.
• Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Previous caregiving experience, either professionally OR as a family caregiver.
• Availability to work weekend shifts up to 12 hours in Saint Joseph, MO and some surrounding areas. (example shift times could be 8am-12pm, 8am-8pm, 5pm-9pm or overnight.)
• Valid U.S. Driver's License, Auto Insurance & a Reliable Personal Vehicle to transport clients.
• Pass a Criminal and Motor Vehicle Background Check
• Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull for up to 8 hours.
• Ability to lift, push or pull 25lbs
• We are currently seeking non-smoking applicants.

A Day in the Life of a Caregiver:

As an integral part of your client’s daily routine, you will provide companionship to your client, plan and prepare meals, and perform light housekeeping tasks such as dusting and laundry. You will help your client maintain their independence, dignity and respect by assisting them with any personal care needs they have, such as bathing, dressing or incontinence care. You will also transport clients to appointments, provide medication reminders, and coordinate with their care team to ensure they are receiving care that meets the Home Instead standard.
