About Us

Rachel McDermott/Owner

Rachel McDermott/Owner

Rachel has spent over 17 years of her career in specializing in caring for Seniors primarily in the world of Physical Therapy. The majority of her career was spent as the Director of Rehabilitation in a large Continuum of Care Facility including Longer Term Care, Skilled Rehab to Home, Memory Care Households, Hospice, Independent and Assistive Living Communities. She opened an Out Patient Physical and Occupational Therapy Clinic as well as a Community Wellness Program with Aquatic Rehab for individual over 50 which continues to sever 1,200 community members regularly. Spending so much of her time in this setting the one request or goal that every Senior she encountered had was to be able to return to the place they were most comfortable, happy and wanted to live out the remainder of their days……HOME. This inspired Rachel to purchase a Home Instead and server Seniors in their Homes while providing the highest quality of life possible. Rachel spends any and all free time with her beautiful, active and amazing 6 children that keep her young and on her toes. Rachel is thankful for being blessed with the gifts of serving others and is grateful for all the Seniors that allow us into their lives. It is a privilege to get to meet so many amazing, strong, humble and wise Seniors.

Lois Blakley

Who Am I: My name is Lois Blakley, I am the Human Resource Director for Home Instead Senior Care. I work out of the La Porte Office. My primary responsibilities include, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and following up with our caregivers once they have been assigned to a client. Background: My education includes a Diploma in Medical Assisting, Certification as a Nursing Home Activity Director, and Certification as a Para Professional in the field of Education. When I first came into contact with Home Instead, it was due to my needing some extra help with my Dad. I was very satisfied with the company as well as the caregiver who was assigned to my dad. I applied for and was hired as a caregiver and was later offered my current position. Family: Three children, three step children, twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. They are all a wonderful part of my husband’s and my life. In addition to all of the children, my husband and I are avid bird watchers, all year long. We also have two dogs and four cats that we consider family. My dad, who has advanced Alzheimer’s and has lived with us for ten years, keeps us busy also. Home Instead Senior Care: Home Instead means many things to many people, from comfort and reassurance to the client, and much needed respite for the family. I am very happy and proud to be a part of Home Instead, where the focus is on quality care for all of our clients.
