Where were you born?
I was born in Fort Smith at the old St. Edwards Hospital.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Fort Smith.
How long have you worked at HI?
I’ve been with Home Instead for 1 ½ years.
What’s your favorite part of caregiving?
My favorite part of caregiving is having morning devotions, singing, and sharing stories with my client.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
My wonderful husband, Gary, and I were married 40 years before he passed away. Together we raised one beautiful daughter, Erika, who is married and lives in Frisco, Texas. They gave us our amazing grandson, Christopher. When I’m not working, I enjoy cooking, crafting, and helping with the mission work at my church.
When Marilyn was in class, she was so panicked about whether or not she could handle all the technology stuff and was feeling overwhelmed. She started fanning herself like she was having a hot flash. She hung in there, thankfully, and has nailed it ALL. The client she cares for is in a facility. Not only does the client love her; the facility workers love her too because they see the quality of life that Marilyn has brought to her. Marilyn has the magic touch in getting the client to shower, eat and go to activities. That was not the case before Marilyn arrived on the scene.
We are so thankful to have Marilyn representing Home Instead and glad to recognize her with this honor. Light always pierces the darkness, and Marilyn’s light is brilliant. Keep up the magnificent work, Marilyn, and God Bless.
