February 2023 Care Professional of the Month - Tara W.
CONGRATULATIONS Tara Ward for being our Care Pro of the Month for February. Tara is an impressive young lady. She’s quiet, but her actions and commitment to family and work speak volumes to her character. Read on to get to know her better.
Where were you born?
I was born in Fort Smith.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Mansfield.
How long have you worked at HI?
I’ve been with Home Instead over 2 years.
What’s your favorite part of caregiving?
My favorite part of Caregiving is helping these people I care for hold onto their independence as long as possible and helping them remember that they’re still important, beautiful, and strong even when they believe they can't or don't feel it anymore.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am 31 years young. I have one smart 6-year-old, whom my world revolves around, and we have a 6-year-old cat. We love going on short road trips or our annual weeklong vacation. My son gave me direct orders to never miss work, so he doesn't get his big vacation taken away lol. My biggest goal right now is figuring out how to get back to a healthier weight. I do miss all the energy I used to have before my son lol. My past jobs have been a little everywhere from fast food starting out at 16, dipped into management just a little, a lot of retail because I love shopping for house decor and home gadgets that could make life easier on us. But mostly healthcare is where I feel I fit in most in society. I got to pitch in quite a bit with the care of lost loved ones and learned a lot about what my clients need now that I'm in the caregiving profession. I left home around 17 and went to Class Job corps, graduated one year early, and was certified in Brick Masonry there, but I never pursued it. My family has been my rock throughout my life journey and I'm happy to have an even bigger family from Home Instead that I can brag about to my family at home about, and cares about me as a person not just an employee.
