Our Stories

Kim Loves Learning New Things!
I started out as a CAREGiver with Home Instead in early 2016. Prior to that my whole career was spent in offices, but after moving to Sequim, senior care seemed like the place to be. My only experience working with seniors at the time was the occasional, helping out my parents or in-laws. CAREGiving was the BEST job I ever had. There were tough days, of course, but overall I met some really exceptional people and enjoyed the work.
Later in the year, there was a position open for scheduling and I was asked to apply due to my past experience dispatching trucks. Pretty stressful position, but I enjoyed working with both caregivers and clients in working out the schedules.
I am the type that likes to keep learning new things so when the REC (Recruitment, Training and Engagement Coordinator) position opened up I applied for that. I have been in this position for over 3 years now and LOVE it! Having been a caregiver I can help new hires navigate through the training and the Home Instead culture.

Cheryl Hines is our CAREGiver Mentor!
Over five years ago, I joined Home Instead out of necessity to pay the bills and found I was well suited to caregiving. I also homeschooled my kids, so I got good at using Microsoft Office products and enjoy "messing around" with graphic design.
Late in my fourth year as a caregiver, I decided to design a name badge that looked a bit more professional than the one I had. I presented it to Isaac, and he liked it. I mentioned I liked to build websites and one thing led to another... Isaac called me into offer the position of Training and Engagement Mentor. I liked the idea of being a mentor rather than a supervisor as it implies, I work alongside rather than over anyone. So, I made the move to the office and am glad I did.
I have grown in more ways than I can list. I still get to fill-in on shifts but now my days take me all over two counties where I get to meet our great team and the many clients we have. I get to write articles on the caregiver website I developed. And so much more. My thanks to Isaac, Kat and the great office team for giving me a chance to spread my wings.

From Caregiver to Service Coordinator!
I started caregiving for Home Instead in 2018. It was my first time caregiving and I absolutely loved it! I joined the office staff last year as the Service Coordinator. Scheduling can be a challenge but connecting clients with our amazing team of CAREGivers is rewarding. It has been a great experience and I’m looking forward to many more years!
