Meet Our Home Care Team

Michael Goodman - Owner/Administrator

Michael Goodman, Owner/Administrator

Michael is a graduate of Mars Hill University with a BS in Biology and Tusculum University with a Master of Management Degree. It was at Mars Hill University where Michael met his wife, Shannon and they have been married since 1989. In 2006, Michael felt a calling to leave his chemistry profession of 18 years to open Home Instead in North Wilkesboro, NC. Michael has a passion for helping seniors and strives to provide the best possible care for them.

Shannon Goodman - Co-Owner/Office Administration

Shannon Goodman, Co-Owner/Office Administration

Shannon is a graduate of Mars Hill University. We were very blessed to have Shannon join our team in 2012, after she taught first grade students for over 20 years. Her excellent organization and attention to details is crucial to meeting the everyday demands of home care. Shannon and her husband, Michael Goodman, have been married since 1989.

Cyndi Waller - Office Manager

Cyndi Waller, Office Manager

Cyndi graduated from Wilkes Community College with a degree in Medical Office Assisting. Her mother and grandmother were both nurses. Watching them take care of people since she was a little girl helped guide her into caregiving. Cyndi joined our team in 2014 as a CAREGiver and transferred into the office in May of 2015. Since that time, she has been able to put her organization and love of people to good use by making sure our clients receive the best possible care we can offer them by teaching our CAREGiver Orientation Training, and Alzheimer's & Dementia Training. In addition to training, Cyndi does billing, reviews client care plans & reviews client charts making sure that our clients are getting top quality service. Cyndi and her husband Shaen have 2 beautiful children and 5 beautiful grandchildren. Cyndi and Shaen reside in Millers Creek.

Connie Noon - Service Coordinator

Connie Noon, Service Coordinator

Connie is married to her high school sweetheart and they reside in the East Wilkes area. She has several years of retail management and customer service experience, but her education is in healthcare. She completed her Bachelor's in Healthcare Administration in 2010. She enjoyed working in retail, but her desire has always been to work in health care. Since starting her healthcare journey in 2010 she has gained experience in different settings such as hospice care and home health. Her journey has ultimately brought her to Home Instead and she is an avid believer in helping people in their homes.

Connie began working with Home Instead in January of 2019. She is honored to be a part of Home Instead where our staff genuinely cares about the community and enriching the lives of seniors.

Sherry-Lynn Turley - RN Aide Supervisor High Country Region

Sherry-Lynn Turley, RN Aide Supervisor, High Country Region

Sherry-Lynn Graduated from Diamond High School in Anchorage, AK. She married and raised a family and then went back to school and received her RN from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA. She has worked in varied settings from Burn/Trauma Stepdown at a Level 1 Trauma Hospital to Hospice, Home Health and Radiation Oncology. Sherry-Lynn has been Certified in Medical Oncology and has earned the Radiation Oncology Certificate. This is her 20th year as a Registered Nurse. Sherry-Lynn's favorite part of her position is interacting with her Clients! She loves to bring a smile to someone's face.

MELISSA Nunn RN May 2021 COMP

Melissa Nunn, RN, Foothills Region

Melissa has been a Registered Nurse for 23 years. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greenboro with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Melissa is a National Certified Pediatric Nurse and also trained as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. She has a wide range of experience from neonates to genatrics. 

Melissa is married with 4 children that range in ages from 13-21 years as well as 4 dogs and 2 cats and Melissa is the Grandmother to her son's Doberman. To say the least she has a very busy home life but she loves it!

Melissa is a huge animal lover and is very active with the Humane Society of Wilkes. She loves caring for others and enjoys what she does here at Home Instead. Her favorite quote is, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."  -Philippians 4:13

Jennifer Barr - Client Care Manager

Jennifer Burr, Client Care Manager, High Country Region

Jennifer graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Service Management and a minor in Criminal Justice. She resides in Ashe County with her two daughters and granddaughter. Jennifer enjoys spending her extra time volunteering in non profit organizations within her community. She has a passion to help others in any way she can. She also likes to spend time with family and spend time outdoors hiking. She started at Home Instead in July of 2019 and she has a strong passion to help Seniors by providing services that aid in keeping them at home.

Leslie Lewis - Staff Coordinator High Country Region

Leslie Lewis, lead Staff Coordinator, High Country Region

Leslie joined Home Instead in September 2019. She loves working with her Clients and Caregivers. Leslie has over 28 years in customer service experience. She enjoys helping others. Leslie is married and had a daughter in school. She enjoys spending time with her family outdoors hiking, camping and kayaking. She resides in Ashe County.

Kayla Hollar

Kayla Hollar, Lead Staffing Coordinator, Foothills Region

Kayla married her high school sweetheart and they have been married since April 2010. They share two daughters, Kelsey and Allison. On her off time you can find her and her family enjoying the great outdoors through camping, riding bikes, and gardening! She has recently been blessed enough to become a foster parent. Kayla has a passion for being an active member of her church. Her current roles within her church community are, vacation bible school director, choir director, and she is a teacher in their children’s class as well. One of Kayla’s favorite quotes are, “With God first all things are possible.”
Misty

Misty Howard, Lead Staffing Coordinator, Foothills Region

Misty joined our team in April of 2022, she has 17 years of customer service experience with her most recent in retail pharmacy for the past 14 years. Misty married her husband Derrick in 2013, they have been blessed with two boys Tucker and Sawyer which keep them very busy. In her spare time you can find her on the ball field watching her son Tucker play baseball or spending time with family. She also loves being involved with her church, going to the beach, and helping others in the community

LUCY

Lucy Goodman

Lucy was born June 30, 2019 in Albemarle NC. She joined our Home Instead family not long after. She is a joy to have in the office and keeps an eye on everyone making sure their work is done, usually observing while on top of their desk. She is very energetic and greets everyone when she comes into the office. She enjoys playing with her squeaky balls and taking her brother's toys. She also loves napping on mom's desk and chewing ink pens when she gets the chance. She is our little sunshine and a joy to have in the office.
LINUS 2

Linus Goodman

Linus was born July 8, 2019 in Whitwell, TN. He also joined our Home Instead family not long after. He is a laid-back guy and is always ready to go for a ride. He enjoys greeting his office people in the mornings and working with mom. He loves to play with his soft stuffed squeaky toys, especially his gingerbread boy. He enjoys his afternoon snacks, especially his chew bones. He also loves long afternoon naps close by his mom, usually in her chair. Linus is our little buddy and brings smiles to everyone he meets especially his office staff.
