Franchise Owner
Rick started the business in April of 1998 with his mother, Sandra Smith. Prior to opening Home Instead, Rick worked in the restaurant business for 13 years. His experience in customer service has served him well at Home Instead. "One of the first things I learned was that the customer is always right and always look to solve problems before they start."
Customer service is at the heart of Home Instead, from the free client care consultation, to always introducing new CAREGivers to clients, to having an office member on call 24 hours a day to handle any needs that come up, to having a client care specialist visit in your home each month to make sure we are doing our job. All these things set us apart from anyone else.
Rick spends a lot of time working in the community. He is a member of the Johnson City Rotary Club, served as an Alzheimer's Assn. board member for over 10 years, and is a leader in the Boy Scouts. Rick spent a lot of time with his grandparents growing up, which is where he developed his love for the elderly. Three of his grandparents died with dementia or Alzheimer's and that has given him a passion for helping keep seniors in their home and compassion for their disease. "We do whatever it takes to help keep you or your loved one in your home for as long as possible."

After seeing first hand, what a difference a kind and compassionate CAREGiver can do for a client and their family, Robbie decided to leave a 10 year career in sales and management to join the Home Instead team. Understanding that aging and disability will inevitably touch us all, he strives to offer the community with the best CAREGivers and support available. His goal is to ensure every client is treated with the utmost dignity and respect and that their family understands that Home Instead Senior Care is the ultimate resource center to answer any and all questions they may have.
