Flexible CAREGiver Schedules

August is the month that marks the “back to school” season starting. For people of all ages, this can be a stressful time. Primarily, college students may be trying to figure out how they are going to manage their busy schedule. From having class, extracurriculars, and homework, it can seem impossible to work a job that will fit into that busy schedule.

Home Instead provides jobs for college students that can work into their busy schedules. One of our most popular jobs for a student is a CAREGiver. A CAREGiver is someone who provides a senior with companionship, conversation, light housekeeping tasks, meal preparation, errands, transportation, medication reminders, and a smiling face to keep them company. The benefits of working for Home Instead include vacation pay, paid training, health coverage, 401k plan and many more. Some other key benefits of working for being a CAREGiver is the experience you gain in the healthcare field if you have a medical major, the opportunities to server elders in your community, and the life advice you could gain from the families you care for.

So you may be asking, what are the qualifications to become a CAREGiver? As stated on our Home Instead website under the careers tab, the skills and qualifications are as listed below.

  • Ability to treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respect
  • Willingness to grow and develop
  • Be a good and patient listener in a friendly and polite manner
  • Pass Background Check and drug screen
