CAREGiver of the Month - August 2021

Ashley Is Honored for Second Time as CAREGiver of Month

Ashley was among the three Home Instead® employees who were selected for the CAREGiver of the Month honors this summer, General Manager Gail M. Wilk announced. If Ashley’s name sounds familiar, it is. She was honored exactly three years ago – in August 2018 – as the North Oakland County franchise’s CAREGiver of the Month.

Gail said: “Ashley and two of her colleagues who we have honored this summer are the silent heroes who go to work, always give above and beyond and are depended on by the clients who love and trust them. It is fitting that we have honored Ashley and her CAREGiver teammates.”

Other summer CAREGivers of the Month are June honoree Lisa and July honoree Barbara. Glenna Yaroch owns the Home Instead franchise whose office is located in Waterford and serves 17 other communities, including Clarkston and West Bloomfield. Focusing on Home Instead’s training, processes and procedures of successful caregiving helped Ashley, Lisa and Barbara achieve CAREGiver of the Month status.

In addition to her strong companionship skills, humble, soft-spoken Ashley provides safety assurance, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and transportation and errands. Ashley and other CAREGivers offer personal assistance with grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, dementia support, cognitive impairment, hospice support and mobility assistance. By expertly doing so, Ashley and her teammates not only assist their clients, but help their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.

To build on their knowledge and experience, Ashley and other North Oakland County CAREGivers are offered the opportunity to increase their dementia-care skills by taking part in the Home Instead network’s one-of-a-kind training protocol. Home Instead’s Person-Centered Care Training for Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias is recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association® for incorporating the evidence-based dementia-care practice recommendations in these topic areas: Alzheimer’s and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication.

For Ashley and her fellow CAREGivers, touching lives impacts their souls, whether they are providing physical help or if they are offering emotional support in a companionship role.

Ashley loves being a part of the CAREGiver team for the Michigan franchise, a member of a highly successful network founded in 1994 in Omaha, Nebraska, by Paul and Lori Hogan. The Home Instead network is the world’s leading provider of in-home care services for seniors, with more than 1,200 independently owned and operated franchises that provide more than 80 million hours of care annually throughout the U.S. and 12 other countries.

Ashley is among more than 90,000 CAREGivers worldwide, and she has helped add to those numbers because of her strong belief in Home Instead’s purpose. It isn’t hard to see Ashley lives the Home Instead principles of “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.” Ashley also holds fast to Home Instead’s purpose and core values. Those core values are: Honor God in all we do; Treat each other with dignity and respect; Encourage growth in ourselves and others; Build value in our service to others.”

By employing CAREGivers such as Ashley to her team of senior-care professionals, Glenna’s franchise continues to shine as an award-winning Home Instead office since Glenna opened the franchise in June 2002. Glenna’s family caregiving experiences and medical background, which includes a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy at Marquette University, have given her the insight to identify families’ needs outside of the medical model of care. She also uses her medical background to serve on the Professional Advisory Board for the Michigan Parkinson Foundation.
