Valeria Earns Care Pro of the Month Honor

Perhaps Valeria’s clients can feel her compassion and empathy within minutes after she walks in the door to assist them. Those are two of the qualities that are evaluated when a Care Professional is considered for the employee of the month award at Home Instead® of Northern Oakland County.

Of course, there are others.

Has the Care Pro gone above and beyond the call of duty? Does the Care Pro possess the skills and wisdom to be highly successful? Is the Care Pro exceptional at her work with any client? Finally, does the Care Pro focus on Home Instead’s training, processes and procedures of successful caregiving? In other words, does the Care Pro work at getting better?

For Home Instead General Manager Gail M. Wilk, the answers were yes. When Gail announced Valeria had been honored as Care Pro of the Month, Gail said Valeria displays Home Instead’s guiding principles of “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.” Valeria serves seniors and their families on behalf of owner Glenna Yaroch’s award-winning Home Instead franchise that serves Waterford, Clarkston, West Bloomfield and 15 other communities in Northern Oakland County.

In addition to her strong companionship skills, Valeria provides safety assurance, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and transportation and errands. She offers personal assistance with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, cognitive impairment, hospice support and mobility. By expertly doing so, Valeria and her fellow Care Pros in Waterford not only assist their clients, but help their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.

To build on their knowledge and experience, Valeria and other Care Pros are offered the opportunity to increase their dementia-care skills by taking part in the Home Instead network’s one-of-a-kind training protocol. Home Instead’s Person-Centered Care Training for Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias is recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association® for incorporating the evidence-based dementia-care practice recommendations in these topic areas: Alzheimer’s and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication.

Valeria loves being a part of the Care Pro team for the Michigan franchise, a member of a network comprised of Home Instead, Inc. and its parent company, Honor. With the world’s largest home-care network and the most advanced care platform, Honor and Home Instead are revolutionizing care for older adults, their families and Care Pros. Combined, the network has more than 100,000 Care Pros across 13 countries, meeting the growing needs of millions of older adults and their families worldwide.
