November 2021 CAREGiver of the Month – Carolyn E.
Carolyn joined Home Instead Denver North as a professional caregiver in December 2020 and has just celebrated her one-year anniversary with us! Carolyn says her whole life she has always taken care of others so joining our team was a natural fit.
What Carolyn loves most about caregiving is getting to know each of her clients on a personal basis, noting each is unique. She enjoys hearing their life stories, engaging with them by playing games and finding creative ways for them to communicate.
Asked to share a meaningful memory caring for her clients, Carolyn recalls taking a client for a drive in the mountains to see the beautiful Colorado fall foliage. She remembers the joy this brought her client and explains why this memory is so special: “It was my last day with this client before she passed. Having her outside enjoying the day, having her smile, and laughing. Leaving that day and her last words to me were ‘love you darling’.”
Originally from Kansas, Carolyn has lived in the Denver area since 1989. She’s worked with special needs individuals as well as the elderly and enjoys being able to enhance the lives of those she cares for. One day Carolyn hopes to learn sign language and expand her capacity to care.
