November 2020 CAREGiver of the Month – Georgette G.
Georgette is celebrating her 8-year anniversary with us this week on December 12th, 2020! Georgette, while visiting her own mother in a care community years ago, really enjoyed spending time with the residents, and bringing a smile to their faces really warmed her heart. It became an obvious choice to her when determining her next professional career, to become a caregiver and Home Instead was providing the opportunity she was looking for! Georgette loves making a difference by sharing stories over tea-time, playing a client's favorite music, engaging in meaningful discussions and listening as her clients to share their life's story with her.
Georgette is a Denver native, but she has called Minnesota and Texas home as well. She is the proud mother of 4 grown children (3 boys and 1 girl), and she also has 4 grandchildren! Prior to becoming a Home Instead caregiver, Georgette spent 9 years as a referral specialist for a doctor's office. She loves Mexican dancing on Sundays and sharing meals with her family. One of her favorite and heart-warming memories with a client was with a new 90-year old client who was reluctant to receiving in-home care. She started talking about her love of dancing and her plans to dance that Sunday, and he began talking about his experiences dancing and listening to bands in NYC during the big band era. It brought him great joy to talk about these special memories and reminisce with her, and it prompted him to suggest he might go dancing with her on Sunday!
