December Professional Caregiver of Month- Susan M!
Susan has been a Professional Caregiver since 2016 when she realized how much she enjoyed helping and taking care of others and joined our Home Instead team. Over the past 7 years, Susan has cared for many remarkable and special seniors, but there is one she has been providing care and companionship to for many years who has this to say about Susan:
“Susan has many admirable qualities, but what I appreciate most is her ability to make me feel cared for as a person. Our family’s relationship with Susan began when she became my wife’s caregiver many years ago. She was always kind and compassionate in everything she did, and her professional skills were above reproach. She always went above and beyond, and my entire family felt very confident having our loved one in her care. After my wife’s passing, I was fortunate enough to retain Susan for my own growing care needs. Susan works tirelessly throughout the day, fixing my meals, tending to my medications, making sure I am comfortable, and overseeing my general health and hygiene. I might also add that she is an excellent cook!”
Susan says that being a Professional Caregiver has opened her eyes to the realization that being kind to someone else has an overall positive impact on her own physical and emotional well-being. When asked for one tip she could share with her fellow Caregivers it would be to picture the client the way they were before they needed care, make them feel as safe and happy as you can, and show them tenderness and kindness in all you do. Susan, we are so grateful to have you on our team and appreciative of all you do! Congratulations on your well-deserved recognition as December 2022 Caregiver of the Month!!!
