About Us
Meet Our Team

Meg, Client Care Coordinator
Meg has over 17 years of experience working with seniors. Prior to joining Home Instead Long Beach, she was a client and volunteer coordinator for a non-profit in Lakewood that served the frail, elderly and terminally ill. While there, Meg was responsible for case management, volunteer training and community outreach. Meg has vast experience in helping seniors to find resources to lead safe and independent lives. She has a genuine passion for Hospice and helping families through this difficult time. Meg has also worked for the AARP Foundation helping seniors find meaningful volunteer opportunities in their communities. Meg is a huge dog lover, reader and movie enthusiast. She and her husband are now empty nesters but are keeping their parenting skills intact while living with their two rescue dogs, Gus and Melvin.

Cheryl, Human Resources Recruiter
Cheryl joined the team in 2020. She is responsible for caregiving recruiting and onboarding. She graduated from California State University, Long Beach receiving her bachelor's degree in Communications with an emphasis in Hospitality Management. She has dived into many different roles in her career path that all focused on the importance of customer service. Before joining Home Instead, Cheryl worked as an Adidas Customer Care Representative and Recruiter for a Business Process Outsourcing company. She is very passionate about helping others and loves going above and beyond to lend a helping hand in anyway. In her free time, she enjoys painting, listening to podcasts, and taking her pup on car rides!

Sam R., Human Resources Coordinator
Samantha joined the Home Instead Long Beach team in September of 2019 bringing 10 years of customer service experience to the team. Samantha started with the Staffing Team and transitioned to the Human Resources Team in June of 2022. As Human Resources Coordinator, Samantha supports our Care Professionals in the areas of Retention, Education and Compliance. When she is not working, Samantha enjoys spending time with her nephews and loves to create beautiful artwork.

Alana, Staffing Coordinator
Alana, our newest member, graduated from California State University, Chico in 2019 with her BA in Communication Studies, minoring in Sociology. Over the years, she has worked for various organizations, all of which surrounded caring for others and now that her father is living with Alzheimer’s she has decided to combine her personal experience with her professional experience. Outside of work, Alana enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing with the dog she rescued in college, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

Ashley, Staffing Coordinator
Ashley joined the Long Beach Home Instead team in November 2013. During her tenure, she has served in several roles. In her current role, she handles Client and Caregiver scheduling, answering calls after hours and on weekends, and managing the Long-Term Care insurance paperwork process. Ashley was motivated to join the senior healthcare industry after spending so much time with her Great Aunt and her Grammy Bear. She saw the joy that one conversation or one visit can bring someone who does not have a lot. Ashley grew up in Southern California and attended college in Northern California on a volleyball scholarship. In her spare time, she loves to go to hockey games, spend time with her family and coach and play volleyball.

Maria, On Call Coordinator
Maria started her career with Home Instead in 2016 with a Home Instead franchise in New York. Since then, she has taken her skills and knowledge from her New York position and brought to Home Instead Long Beach. Maria has a passion for helping others and she loves sharing her heart and passion for helping others with the elderly; this brings her great joy. Maria lives in Utah with her husband and their children. They have 4 children, 3 living and 1 in Heaven. Aside from working for Home Instead and being a wife and mom, you will also find Maria pursuing her passion for holistic health and healing! If she ever has free time, she enjoys talking long walks, catching the sunsets, and working out!

Nicole, Accounting and Administration Manager
Nicole began working at Home Instead Senior Care in April 2018. She has an extensive background in business accounting and uses those skills as our bookkeeper. Having had a father who struggled with Alzheimer’s, Nicole understands the value a caregiver can bring to a family. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and enjoys working with people as well as numbers. Nicole takes pleasure in getting out and experiencing Long Beach with her husband and three kids.

Shavon Pierce, Chief People Officer
Shavon joined Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach in January 2016 when she and her husband purchased the franchise. Shavon’s role in the company is to provide support and assistance with anything related to our employees, our clients and our community partners.
Shavon grew up in San Pedro, attended Cal State Long Beach before transferring to Cal State Fullerton where she earned her BS Degree in Psychology. She spent the first 15 years of her career working in Human Resources for a variety of companies in Los Angeles and Orange County. After her three sons were born, she spent time working as an HR consultant as well as volunteering her time with local non-profit organizations.
Shavon is very passionate about making a difference in the lives of seniors. As the daughter of parents who have been clients of Home Instead, she understands what a huge impact our CAREGivers make in the lives of seniors and their families.

Don Pierce, President
Don joined the Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach team in January 2016 when he and Shavon purchased the franchise. Don’s role is to support all team members in their delivery of high-touch customer service to our employees, clients and community partners and to oversee all aspects of the company’s operations and performance.
Don grew up in Huntington Beach, earned his BS Degree in Business from California State University, Long Beach and his Masters Degree in Business Administration from University of California, Irvine. During his career, he has run several businesses and has always focused on delivering excellent service to the customer. Over the years, he has served on non-profit boards, committed significant time to volunteering for local non-profits, community based organizations and giving back to the community.
Don is very passionate about enhancing the lives of seniors. Seeing firsthand the impact caregivers can have on enhancing the lives of seniors and the poor performance of several companies who had been used to provide caregivers for family members, he decided to buy, own and operate this company. By owning and operating Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach, he leads the charge to ensure that services provided to seniors and their families by Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach meet or exceed his high expectations.
