Today their Home Instead businesses Jax Home Health Inc., Prestige Home Care Inc., and Magnolia Home Health LLC employ close to 600 full-time and part-time employees. Theirs are among the top three largest of the Home Instead Senior Care operations, which consist of over 1,100 offices in 12 countries.

Looking for an opportunity to work together and own their own business, Dave and Malorie decided to combine their specific areas of expertise in the growing healthcare field. The Hills were impressed with the professionalism and sincerity exhibited by the Home Instead corporate staff in Omaha, Nebraska. Thus began what has turned out to be a truly rewarding adventure of developing into one of the top three owner/operators of Home Instead's network of franchise business owners.

Native Buckeyes David and Malorie have had their office headquarters located in Jacksonville Florida since 1997. They also have offices in Saint Augustine FL., Palm Coast FL., Mason OH., Savannah GA., and Hilton Head SC.

The Hills purchased two existing Home Instead offices located in the suburbs of Cincinnati Ohio in 2012 to add to their three Home Instead Senior Care offices located in Northeast Florida. "We loved the idea of expanding our quality-first home care business to the state where we spent over 40 years of our lives".

Once again, the opportunity to grow Home Instead remarkable services presented itself in 2019 and the Hills added the Savannah GA territory which included Hilton Head SC and neighboring communities in Beaufort and Jasper Counties.

Shane Thompson is the Chief Executive Officer of six Home Instead businesses serving offices located in Mason OH; Savannah GA; Hilton Head SC; Jacksonville FL; St Augustine FL; and Palm Coast FL.  

As CEO, Shane governs the strategic direction and collaboration of the Executive & Senior Leadership team network; facilitates emerging solutions while cultivating innovative opportunities; provides leadership on key business initiatives and manages the day-to-day operations of all six Home Instead business.

Shane is an accomplished business leader with vast experience as a former business owner with a proven track-record of transforming highly complex challenges into relevant sustained solutions and opportunities. 

Prior to this role, Shane was the President of the Home Instead Savannah GA territory which includes Hilton Head SC and the neighboring communities of Beaufort and Jasper counties from 2019-2021.

Shane is fortunate to do work that really matters in collaboration with the Executive & Senior Leadership team.  Thomas Jefferson said, ‘Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing’.

Cheryl Jeffers, Chief Operating Officer

Cheryl serves as the Chief Operating Officer over our Mason, Ohio office of Home Instead in Butler and Warren counties and many surrounding areas.

Her role is to oversee all of the day-to-day operations performed by the office staff. These responsibilities include assigning and directing work, planning, appraising performance, coaching employees performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

She is a long time resident of Butler County, Ohio, an avid runner, a Cleveland Browns and FC Cincinnati fan!

Cheryl is a graduate of the College of Mount St. Joseph, Cincinnati, OH with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts.

Megan serves as our Chief Financial Officer for our Ohio franchises, as well as, Florida franchises owned by David and Malorie Hill. Megan initially joined Home Instead Senior Care as an Administrative Assistant, to support the Executive Team and the Accounting Department with various administrative tasks. She moved into the Accounting Specialist position and then became Director of Finance, while continuing to take on new and more complex tasks as her position grew and developed. Working in each position in the Accounting Department has given her a true understanding of every step of the billing and payroll processes. As C.F.O., Megan works closely with the owners and the other members of the Leadership Team to keep Home Instead Senior Care the agency and employer of choice.

Lisa Atkinson serves as Chief Marketing Officer for 6 office franchises of Home Instead. She brings over twenty-five years of experience in the healthcare industry and embodies effective communication and interpersonal skills. In addition to directing the development of new business, Lisa facilitates the formulation and implementation of new business strategies and develops relationships and partnerships throughout all of the 6 franchise businesses. As C.M.O., Lisa works closely with the Marketing Teams, Leadership Team and Business Owners to seek out opportunity and fuel growth. She is very passionate about connecting the right resources to the right people at the right time. She truly lives, To Us, It’s Personal.

Suzanne Bryan, Community Relations Liaison

Suzanne is a '96 graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration. Go Bobcats!

Having cherished the relationships with her own grandparents, who provided much love and support in her life, she is driven and passionate about helping seniors to achieve quality of life while maintaining safety and independence. She loves connecting with and through people to make this happen. Educating seniors, their families and the community about home care services is a major focus of Suzanne's mission.

She has a joyful spirit and enjoys the "little things," especially laughter. Spending time with family and friends, encouraging her three sons in their various athletics and activities, and finding opportunities for teachable life lessons are what matter most to Suzanne.

​Kara joined Home Instead in June 2019. She has 19 years experience in sales and marketing and 4 years experience in home care. She enjoys the opportunity of working with our Seniors to make sure they can live their Golden years to the fullest!

Karla Richardson, Office Manager

Karla's role is that of Office Manager, working closely with her team to ensure that every client receives the desired care and services at the requested time.

She manages the day-to-day staffing needs, along with her team in finding the right fit for our CAREGivers and their clients. Her duties include coordinating and maintaining the schedules between our CAREGivers and our clients. Karla is compassionate and dedicated to assisting both Home Instead Clients and CAREGivers.

As a longtime resident of Warren County, OH, Karla comes to Home Instead with years of experience caring for the senior population, as well as, owning and operating a day care for children.

Crystal Merrill, Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator

As our Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator, Crystal is primarily responsible for the recruiting and retention of our care team through our on-boarding process.  She also coordinates our monthly CAREGiver appreciation parties and events. She is genuinely interested in every opportunity she has to meet new candidates and learn more about their personal and professional goals in life.  Crystal loves being in a position to ensure that our CAREGivers complete our orientation and empower-based model of learning with confidence as they begin their journey with our HI family.  She has such a kind and gentle disposition in her interactions with all team members. Her desire is for each CAREGiver to walk into a clients’ home with the skills and knowledge necessary to make it a positive experience for both CAREGivers and clients. Having joined our team initially as a CAREGiver, then Service Coordinator, Crystal truly understands and appreciates the privilege she has of building relationships and how impactful it is with our clients, family members and CAREGivers. 

Crystal enjoys being with family and friends and watching her girls do what they love – golf and gymnastics.  She loves being outdoors and spends her summer months poolside, at King’s Island or visiting the Zoo.

Avery Lawrence, Service Coordinator

Avery performs the role of Service Coordinator.  She is responsible for establishing rapport with our care team and clients on a daily basis. She excels with this in her attention to detail through communication and coordination of schedules to meet the needs of our clients and CAREGivers. 

Having been a CAREGiver for three years prior to joining our Home Instead family, Avery’s caring heart and out going personality complement her ability to relate well with our care team.  She values each and every opportunity to connect with our CAREGivers, professionally and personally. She is a team player, works diligently and always willing to help make things happen behind the scenes.

Outside of the office, you will find Avery on the softball fields.  She also has a creative flare and enjoys designing home décor signs. She loves vacationing and most importantly, spending time with her grandparents.

Makayla Culbreath, Service Coordinator

Makayla serves in the role of Service Coordinator.  She is responsible for connecting with and servicing the needs of our clients and care team through daily interaction, communication and coordination of scheduling.  She has a very kind and sweet disposition, which is often heard through her voice of genuine care and concern in every phone call and in person visit with clients and CAREGivers. Makayla initially joined our Home Instead family as a CAREGiver and is grateful for her career path in home care assisting seniors.  She enjoys building relationships with our clients and CAREGivers, and strives to assure that all needs are compassionately being met.

Makayla has a Veterinary Assistant degree that she obtained through Grant Career Center.  She adores her Catahoula dog, Maple, and often babysits kids when she has the opportunity. She also spends time on the trails dirt biking and loves being with family.

Krista Powers, MSW, Alzheimer's Educator

Innately, Krista Powers is a person of passion, presence, wonder and awe. Her ability to truly listen and hear people, paired with asking questions that enable a person to dig deeper and create a forward path have been hallmarks of her life.  

Ms. Powers earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Xavier University and her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. In high school, she was trained and facilitated peer mediation and conflict resolution. More recently she has pursued certification in the Grief Recovery Method and Life Coaching.  

Krista’s career has offered opportunities in direct clinical care, program development and evaluation, and fundraising with local, regional, and national audiences. She has been honored to speak at conferences and seminars as a keynote speaker and breakout session facilitator. Additionally, Krista is invested in a spirit of community and engagement. She has served in elected office on her local school board, was humbled to be named a 40 Under 40 Honoree and taught as an adjunct professor at Xavier University. Through all these experiences, Krista has developed as a professional who honors the human aspects of every situation. She has honed an ability to quickly assess pain points and growth opportunities for individuals and businesses and has routinely found herself positioned in organizational change management roles as well as informal coaching.  

Krista has been a primary caregiver for a partner as well as an integral member of care teams for many aging individuals. She has experienced being consumed and lost while caregiving and has learned how to grow in a way that has rekindled her mind, heart, and spirit.   

With gratitude for her career path and an understanding of her talents and life journey, Krista is energized to align her gifts and passion through her business, Potere, which offers coaching to empower individuals, specifically caregivers, to ensure they are not lost in the process of important and transformational moments of life.

Amy Whitt, Director of First Impressions

Amy completes our team beautifully in her position as Director of First Impressions.  She is usually the first person to meet when visiting our office.  She has the innate ability to connect immediately with others and makes them feel at ease with her caring nature and finesse to adapt to any situation.  She is responsible for many clerical aspects of the office, yet is often in the field performing warm introductions between our CAREGivers and clients, or assisting with our Quality Assurance program.  She touches our clients and CAREGivers every day, making a positive impression.  Her smile is contagious and she loves being in the position to help make others’ days a little brighter.

Amy and her husband have two children and she loves her time with family.  She was a CAREGiver with our team prior to her current role.

She has an Early Childhood teaching degree from UC.  (Fun fact:  Amy is certified in Welding.) She has a special place in her heart for seniors, including her own grandparents. She enjoys spending time with them and has enjoyed volunteering in retirement communities over the past several years.

Nancy is a Registered Nurse who comes to our Home Instead family with a wealth of experience. Nancy's role is to provide specialized training for our CAREGivers, expert training in personal care and CPR Training is essential to our seniors.

She is a graduate of California State University with experience in the emergency department, Hospice Care, home health care, as well as, an instructor for training Emergency Medical Technicians.

Victoria is a Registered Nurse. Victoria's role is to provide specialized training for our CAREGivers, expert training in Personal Care is essential to caring for our Seniors

Victoria has a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Science, Register Nurse, has 9+ years progressive experience as a Staff Nurse for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Acute Care Orthopedic and Neurology, Case Manager and Quality Assurance. Victoria has 14 years experience as a Private Duty nurse in Home Care.
