At Home Instead of Charleston, SC, we love sharing our home care knowledge and improving the skills of local caregivers, ensuring seniors receive the best Alzheimer's Care in Charleston, SC. Recently Bill and Kenzie held a Person-Centered Alzheimer's Care training for the dedicated staff at The Palmettos of Charleston. Twenty-seven staff members successfully completed the training, earning certificates. A special certificate was also presented to Gracie, The Palmetto's community cat!
Our Person-Centered Alzheimer's Care training program blends classroom seminars with hands-on demonstrations. As part of the program, team members engaged in challenges designed to simulate the daily struggles faced by individuals living with various forms of Dementia or Alzheimer's. These seemingly simple tasks quickly revealed the difficulties that those with these conditions encounter every day. By experiencing these challenges for themselves, the caregivers deepened their understanding, fostering empathy and reinforcing the importance of person-centered home care.
By enhancing the skills and empathy of caregivers, we aim to create a more supportive and compassionate environment for individuals in need of specialized home care. Thank you to all the caregivers who participated and to Bill and Kenzie for leading the training!
