Rae’s Encouraging Words Lifted Client’s Spirits

For one despondent Home Instead® client, an angel named Raionyance "Rae" Boudreaux appeared one day for a CAREGiver's shift. The client talked about "giving up" because of his wife's passing and physical challenges that have come about as the result of the aging process.

Rae, as she always does, had the perfect comforting words that pulled the client out of his darkness that day. That's how an angel operates, and that's why Office Manager Mitchell McGee named Rae as Home Instead's CAREGiver of the Quarter for the last three months of 2020.

The Home Instead franchise, owned by Cara Delgado, serves north and northwest Houston, including Cypress, Jersey Village, Highlands, Hockley, Humble, Katy, Kingwood, Spring, Tomball and Waller. Rae has been on the award-winning franchise's CAREGiver team for about four years, and Cara and Mitchell couldn't be happier that Rae has been a steady source of compassion and service for their clients. Of course, there have been difficult days.

"I remember the client wanting to give up. He missed his late wife. He also mentioned his health was starting to prevent him from providing for himself. He said he felt as if he were a burden. That struck at my heart, and I had to say something uplifting," Rae explained.

"I encouraged him by saying that regardless of his problems, there is always a solution. I told him that I was willing to show him ways of helping himself while dealing with his disabilities and other challenges. Of course, I'd do the things for him that he could no longer do for himself. But I wanted to allow him as much independence as is safely possible. As we talked, the sight of hope that lit up his face made my day 10 times better."

Rae is the kind of person who feels best when she can make someone else feel better. That speaks to the character of Rae and every other CAREGiver at Cara's franchise. Rae said: "I have served clients by providing them with respect, dignity and most of all love and support."

She added: "What I like most about my job as a CAREGiver is the comfort, motivation and the trust I build with each of my clients and their families. My clients are left with a smile and looking forward to my next visit."

Rae found Home Instead in an advertisement and further noted: "I decided that this job might be a perfect fit for me. I love helping people, and this company's mission is what I want to strive to do every day."

Rae loves being a part of the CAREGiver team for owner Cara's Houston-area franchise, a member of a highly successful network founded in 1994 in Omaha, Nebraska, by Paul and Lori Hogan. The Home Instead Senior Care network is the world's leading provider of in-home care services for seniors, with more than 1,200 independently owned and operated franchises that provide more than 70 million hours of care annually throughout the U.S. and 13 other countries.

Rae is among more than 90,000 CAREGivers, and she has helped add to those numbers because of her strong belief in Home Instead's purpose. It isn't hard to see Rae lives the Home Instead® principles of "Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart."
