HISC staff love providing CAREGivers with positive feedback from their clients. Each month staff acknowledge exceptional CAREGivers as "CAREGivers of the Month."
CAREGiver Courtney H. - January 21, 2020:
"I love all the clients I have been matched with. They think I am helping them, but they are truly helping me.”
Family and Team-Based Company
CAREGiver Donna L. November 19, 2019, who has worked for Home Instead for more than 10 years:
"Well, as you know, it’s personal at Home Instead. They care about their employees a lot and they make sure the clients are getting the best of care. Every day I say to myself that this is where I am happy to be an employee. I pray I will continue to do my best."
Safe Work Environment
Home Instead takes every precaution to ensure the safety of its CAREGivers and clients. Not only does Home Instead provide all CAREGivers with masks and gloves (and gowns and eye googles, when needed), staff regularly follows up with clients and/or their families to make sure that clients and guests in their home are adhering to infection prevention protocol per CDC guidelines.
CAREGiver Linda W. - March 25, 2020:
"I would like to say even in this Coronavirus Pandemic, Home Instead is carrying out their committed responsibility to keep both their clients and CAREGivers safe and supported with up-to-date information and supplies. I am sure this means extra hours of work for them, but they are always available to help meet individual needs. If you are seeking this type of employment, you will not be disappointed.”
Work Schedule FlexibilityHISC staff meet with CAREGivers to understand which days and hours they are available and then make your schedule based on this information. Also, staff only assign clients who live within 15 miles of where CAREGivers live.
CAREGiver Lesley R. - November 19, 2019:
"Working with Home Instead allows me to work with a flexible schedule that fits my lifestyle since retirement. I have the opportunity to meet very interesting seniors in our community, and work with them to meet their daily needs. Their conversations are the best – from war stories, to how they met their spouses, their world travel, and their grandchildren. The Home Instead office staff are the best. Their words of encouragement are very well received, especially at critical times, when I am faced with challenges.”
Ongoing TrainingHome Instead provides extensive training for CAREGivers when they are hired. We also require that all CAREGivers participate in paid training 3x yearly on aging-related issues with the goal of ensuring CAREGivers proactively alert family members and HISC staff about any changes in a client's condition. Recent training topics include Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, Health and Nutrition, and Recognizing Signs of Elder Abuse.
CAREGiver Margaret G. - March 18, 2020:
“I especially enjoy the participatory liaison evident at HISC training sessions between all employees as a unit and joint goals.”
Supportive Office TeamNo call is too small! Our office team is here to support our CAREGivers every step of the way – whether it’s trying to find a local community resource for a client, working with a more challenging client, etc. We are here to serve you!
CAREGiver Sharon C. - January 21, 2020:
“The staff and management are very accessible. Even if my question seems silly, I always feel comfortable asking. The slogan, “To Us It’s Personal,” lives up to its name.”
