Chris Lerch, Owner and CEO

Chris Lerch, owner of Home Instead of San Antonio, gained respect and admiration for seniors through his rich childhood experiences with his grandparents and great-grandparents. His interest in serving seniors is largely due to the lessons he learned from his mother, the original family CAREGiver.

When asked about the mission of his Home Instead franchise, Chris states, "At Home Instead we work hard to help families cope with the challenges of aging at home. In the spirit of my mother, the 'original CAREGiver'. Home Instead of San Antonio strives to ease the burden of aging in place so that families can focus on enjoying their cherished seniors."

A native of Indiana, Chris and his wife, Shelley, have now lived in Texas for many years. They have 2 children and enjoy spending time together as a family.

Jackie Robb, General Manager

Jackie Robb, General Manager

Jackie came to Home Instead in 2011. In her 10 years she has been Director of Marketing and now is the General Manager of our franchise. Jackie has always had a love for seniors which she believes started with her being surrounded by loving great-grandparents and grandparents. Jackie is responsible for successfully directing and the coordination of all activities in the office for growth and development of the business. Jackie is interested in bringing the BEST non-medical Home Care to the Seniors and their families of San Antonio. Jackie has a degree in Communications from the University of Missouri- St. Louis. Jackie is presently serving as the Past President of Alamo Area Home Care Council and current Advisor of Alamo Area Home Care. Past Secretary of Case Management Society of South Texas. Jackie has founded and run her own live call in radio show Girl Talk Texas via this forum she could educate her audiences on senior topics. In her spare time, Jackie enjoys spending time with her family.

​Joanna is responsible for successfully directing and coordinating all activities with the care of potential and existing Clients. Joanna is also responsible for billing and payroll for our Clients and Care Professionals.

Laurie D

Laurie Dorton – Scheduling/Staffing Coordinator

Laurie performs a variety of duties in the coordination of scheduling service for the Clients.
She is responsible for scheduling Clients and Care Professionals in order to provide the highest quality service
to Clients with emphasis on creating extraordinary relationships.
Laurie has been with Home Instead for 2 years. She has been a caregiver on and off for 15 years.
Laurie took care of her mother for a number of years. Laurie is a former Medical Assistant for 6 years.
Laurie has a wonderful daughter and two bonus daughters in Chicago. She has lived in San Antonio most of her life.

Lauren joined the Home Instead team September of 2021 after 6 dedicated years of management in animal welfare for one of San Antonio's no-kill animal shelters.  During these 6 long years, Lauren became an expert in recruitment and retention, hiring staff and implementing development strategies.  While she may have made a big change in career path, Lauren strives to continuously empower Care Professional's and ensure to provide with the resources needed to further set them up for success.

Cody Lerch, Home Care Consultant

Cody Lerch, Home Care Consultant

Cody Lerch is a Home Care Consultant at Home Instead Senior Care San Antonio. Cody has been apart of the Home Instead San Antonio family since 1998, when his father started his own franchise. As a young man he would often spend time with his dad, visiting clients on holidays and weekends. After 18 years of watching the impact Home Instead Senior Care has made in Texas, Cody has decided to step up and take a bigger role.

Today, Cody spends his work days expanding the Home Instead brand, meeting with families who are starting a new chapter of senior care, and gaining information on the industry around San Antonio to better inform potential clients. Cody works with area physicians, home health agencies, hospices, nurses and many other health care professionals to ensure community awareness of the services Home Instead Senior Care offers seniors.

Cathy Lerch, Home Care Consultant

Cathy Lerch, Home Care Consultant

Cathy joined the Home Instead team in 2017. Cathy works closely with the General Manager and Sales Team ensuring Home Instead is well known in the San Antonio Community. Cathy works with area physicians, home health agencies, hospices, nurses and many other healthcare professionals to ensure community awareness of the services we offer Seniors.

She enjoys sharing what Home Instead can do to help the seniors in our community, and seeing the impact it has on the families. Cathy also works with incoming calls/inside sales from prospective Clients looking for services.

Outside of working with us, Cathy is an inspiration for amputees all over the U.S. After losing her hand in a car crash at 21 years old, she set out to share her story to help people overcome life challenges. She has spoken for Occupational Therapist at Hospitals, Hanger Clinic, Businesses, Youth Groups, and a retreat for Hall of Fame surfer Bethany Hamilton. Cathy’s passion is to make a difference in the world by serving others in our community.

Carol Schuh, Client Care Coordinator

Carol performs a variety of duties that relate to our Client care including quality assurance visits with our existing Clients. She continuously evaluates the care plan through a series of ongoing communications and visits to ensure high quality care for our Clients and their satisfaction.

Sue Petitt, Remote Recruitment/Retention/Training Coordinator


Sue joined Home Instead in 2019, as a Lead CAREGiver/Trainer and Mentor. She quickly headed to the office full time as our Recruitment/Training Coordinator, working to enhance and improve our training program. In late 2021 She moved to Virginia but stayed on with us remotely.  She spends much of her time assuring that our agency's applications and accounts are running smoothly. Family may have moved her away but her heart remains dedicated to Home Instead of San Antonio, Tx. We are glad to have her.

Carmela Williams, Lead Care Professional/Mentor/Trainer

Carmela joined Home Instead of San Antonio as a CAREGiver after working for a Home Instead out of Ohio. She has taken on the Lead Professional roll as well as our Lead Trainer. She spends her days teaching, mentoring, and Caregiving. Carmela comes to work each day with a can do attitude and gets it done! She is definitely our ideal when it comes to work ethics and drive. Everyday is a good day with Carmela.

Vanessa Vega -Lead Care Professional/Mentor/Trainer

Vanessa joined Home Instead in 2013 as a CAREGiver after graduating and receiving her CNA. Her dedication to her long time clients gave her plenty of experience, that she now shares with our new Care Professionals as a Mentor and Trainer. 

Vanessa shared that she has always had a special place in her heart for helping and caring for others. She took care of her own grandparents, and volunteered as a Girl Scout leader for 10 years. She enjoys spending her free time with her children, grandchildren, her dancing group & her cats. Home Instead is a family affair for The Vegas, as both her mother and daughter are also long time Care Professionals of ours.

Dot Instead- Hands-On Instructor's Assistant

Dot is an extremely dedicated part of our team here in San Antonio, Tx. She spends countless hours assisting in the  hands-on training of our new Care Professionals. Dot is a firm believer in the Hands-On approach of teaching.  Most days she spends her day being transferred, changed, and lifted. We all know there are days she just feels like falling apart but always bucks up, pulls herself together and greets the day with a smile... and a bit of duck tape. 
Although she is all work in the office, Dot has been known to cut loose every now and then. Whether it's a trip to the beach or a night out with friends, she is always the life of the party.  Dot has insinuated that she feels that nothing has been as rewarding to her as her work here at Home Instead.
