Today their Home Instead Senior Care businesses Jax Home Health Inc., Prestige Home Care Inc., and Magnolia Home Health LLC employ close to 600 full-time and part-time employees. Theirs are among the top three largest of the Home Instead Senior Care operations, which consist of over 1,100 offices in 12 countries.
Looking for an opportunity to work together and own their own business, Dave and Malorie decided to combine their specific areas of expertise in the growing healthcare field. The Hills were impressed with the professionalism and sincerity exhibited by the Home Instead Senior Care corporate staff in Omaha, Nebraska. Thus began what has turned out to be a truly rewarding adventure of developing into one of the top three owner/operators of Home Instead Senior Care's network of franchise business owners.
Native Buckeyes David and Malorie have had their office headquarters located in Jacksonville Florida since 1997. They also have offices in Saint Augustine FL., Palm Coast FL., Mason OH., Savannah GA., and Hilton Head SC.
The Hills purchased two existing Home Instead Senior Care offices located in the suburbs of Cincinnati Ohio in 2012 to add to their three Home Instead Senior Care offices located in Northeast Florida. "We loved the idea of expanding our quality-first home care business to the state where we spent over 40 years of our lives".
Once again, the opportunity to grow Home Instead remarkable services presented itself in 2019 and the Hills added the Savannah GA territory which included Hilton Head SC and neighboring communities in Beaufort and Jasper Counties.

Shane Thompson, CEO

Shane Thompson is the Chief Executive Officer of six Home Instead businesses serving offices located in Mason OH; Savannah GA; Hilton Head SC; Jacksonville FL; St Augustine FL; and Palm Coast FL.
As CEO, Shane governs the strategic direction and collaboration of the Executive & Senior Leadership team network; facilitates emerging solutions while cultivating innovative opportunities; provides leadership on key business initiatives and manages the day-to-day operations of all six Home Instead business.
Shane is an accomplished business leader with vast experience as a former business owner with a proven track-record of transforming highly complex challenges into relevant sustained solutions and opportunities.
Prior to this role, Shane was the President of the Home Instead Savannah GA territory which includes Hilton Head SC and the neighboring communities of Beaufort and Jasper counties from 2019-2021.
Shane is fortunate to do work that really matters in collaboration with the Executive & Senior Leadership team. Thomas Jefferson said, ‘Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing’.

Doug Myers, Chief Operating Officer
Doug serves as Chief Operating Officer for three Florida franchises of Home Instead Senior Care; Duval, St. Johns and Flagler Counties. He was born and raised in Jacksonville and has over a decade of home care experience. His role is to oversee all of the day-to-day operations performed by the office staff. These responsibilities include assigning and directing work, planning, appraising performance, coaching employees performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Lisa Atkinson, Chief Marketing Officer
Lisa Atkinson serves as Chief Marketing Officer for 6 office franchises of Home Instead. She brings over twenty-five years of experience in the healthcare industry and embodies effective communication and interpersonal skills. In addition to directing the development of new business, Lisa facilitates the formulation and implementation of new business strategies and develops relationships and partnerships throughout all of the 6 franchise businesses. As C.M.O., Lisa works closely with the Marketing Teams, Leadership Team and Business Owners to seek out opportunity and fuel growth. She is very passionate about connecting the right resources to the right people at the right time. She truly lives, To Us, It’s Personal.

Leslie Burley, Accounting Specialist
Leslie began her career with Home Instead Senior Care in 2009 in Silver Springs, Maryland, starting as a CAREGiver and then mastering a variety of positions in the business. She moved to Jacksonville in August of 2016 after her daughter enrolled at the University of Central Florida and Leslie knew she wanted to find another Home Instead family. Starting out as a temporary employee and helping out in multiple departments, she moved to a permanent position as Service Coordinator in 2017. Having worked in almost every department, an opportunity became available in our Accounting Department and Leslie assumed her new role. Leslie brings a knowledge of the importance of teamwork in being successful.

Sheila Huffman, Client Engagement Specialist
Sheila joined our Home Instead family in 2006. She has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare field, most of them in senior care. Many of her years with Home Instead she held the title of Client Care Coordinator. This position is a vital link among our clients, their families, and the Home Instead Staff who strive to arrange the best care possible for each and every customer. Families and client have grown to think of her as family as she treats each one like family. She is now talking to families that would like help in navigating through the start of home care. She provides guidance and direction and is able to connect them with multiple resources that can make it easier to walk through the journey of caring for a loved one.

Shana Harris, HR Assistant
Shana began her career with Home Instead Senior Care in 2011. She started out as a companion CAREGiver, then after successfully completing training and passing exams, she became a Home Health Aide. Another promotion followed her to her role as "Lead Caregiver". This position entails traveling to different locations and facilitating Virtual Dementia Tours with Home Instead Community Educators. Now an assistant in the Home Instead Human Resources Department, she is in charge of managing/maintaining Caregiver documentation and assisting our clients with their long-term care insurance claims and billing of clients’ long-term care insurance.

Melanie Bruer, Senior Service Coordinator
Melanie was born in Cleveland, Ohio into a military family. She was lucky to have grown up in Sicily and has spent the last sixteen years of her career working with teens in crisis. As a Home Instead Service Coordinator, she is responsible for setting up client schedules, finding solutions for our clients' concerns and supporting her fellow Service Coordinators on a daily basis.

Shelby Stowell, Service Coordinator

Born in coastal southern Maine, Shelby discovered her passion for building meaningful relationships in 2010 as a teacher in child care. Uprooting to Jacksonville in 2015 has strengthened her desire to be of help to others. She began at Home Instead as a Home Health Aide and went on to obtain her CNA before taking on the role of Service Coordinator. With eight years of combined experience creating positive futures for both the young and elderly, Shelby believes positive communication and an open heart are two vital qualities of maintaining successful relationships.

Katilyn Lary , Service Coordinator
Kaitlyn was born and raised in Jacksonville, growing up with a family that loves the country and the great outdoors. She has always had a passion for taking care of others. This inspired her to pursue a career helping seniors by working for Home Instead Senior Care. Her journey began as a Home Health Aide and then transitioned into a Service Coordinator. Kaitlyn says " I enjoy working hard with everything that I do and am always yearning to learn more through experiences in life".
