Meet Our Team

Ken Stavas, Owner
Ken has been the owner of Home Instead Senior Care since 1996 servicing over 3,300 clients. With a Master’s Degree in Psychology, he knows how important it is for seniors and their families to have a reliable and trusted resource of affordable home care. Ken has placed particular attention on becoming a trusted provider of comprehensive non-medical home health care for seniors. Throughout his years of service to the seniors, Home Instead Senior Care has received numerous awards such as Cobb Small Business Award, Best Practices Award, Business to Business, and One to Watch Award.

Janice Sloan, General Manager
Janice came to Home Instead with a well-rounded background, having many years of experience in management, marketing, and customer relations. For 19 years, she worked with ClubCorp, a company that owns upscale, private city and country clubs. In 2012, she transitioned into the senior care industry focusing on home care and senior living communities.
As General Manager, she is responsible for the day-to-day management of the business. Her goal is three-fold: hire happy, dependable employees who have a heart for helping others; provide outstanding care to every Home Instead client; and grow the business in a fiscally responsible way.
Janice grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She resides with her husband and two sons in the BridgeMill community of Canton.

Anne Friedrich, Home Care Consultant
Anne has been employed with Home Instead since August of 2000. She started as a caregiver and worked in recruitment as well. As a Home Care Consultant, Anne provides support to potential clients while informing them of the services Home Instead provides. Relationships are very important to Anne because she understands that it is much easier to have someone that you know and trust in your home caring for your loved one. To Anne it is personal.

Melanie Arnold, Home Care Consultant
Melanie has been in the homecare industry for approximately six years. She has a passion for working with seniors in a variety of ways, such as listening to their stories, doing activities, and showing them love. Melanie informs the public of Home Instead Senior Care's services and she truly enjoys building relationships with others. Helping seniors get the quality care they need is Melanie's passion.

Christine Howell, Training Coordinator
Christine started as a caregiver with Home Instead in 2015. In a few short months she was invited to a CAREGiver appreciation breakfast where she met the office staff and was recruited for her talents in training and management. Christine has 18 years of retail and office management experience, as well as a Certificate in Medical Coding and she is currently a licensed CNA. Christine’s ability to manage stress while maintaining high standards and keeping an infectious, fun spirit makes her a valuable part of our dynamic staff.

Amanda Dunn, Service Manager
Amanda started with Home Instead in 2015 as a caregiver, and she brought with her over 3 years’ of compassionate caregiving experience. Within months of starting with our company she was presented the opportunity to work with our scheduling team part time. She has proven to be a valuable part of our scheduling team with her attention to detail, which lead to her becoming full time with the scheduling team in 2016, and recently taking on the responsibility of managing our scheduling department. Her eagerness to assist our clients with their needs continues to help our company grow.

Shawna Henry, Service Coordinator
Shawna is a breast cancer survivor, and she serves Cobb County as a Breast Cancer Ambassador. She enjoys shopping with her mom and spending time with her 5 grandchildren. Shawna is always willing to make her famous Chicken Alfredo for our office luncheons.

Melissa Turner, Recruitment Coordinator/Office Administrator
Melissa calls Cobb County home, where she is busy raising twin boys and participating in their church and school activities. She looks forward to baseball season in the spring (Go Braves) and football season in the fall (Go Dawgs!)

Kimberly Manroe, RN - Patient Care Coordinator
Kimberly joined the Home Instead Team in February 2016, bringing her knowledge and experience in working with senior adults in a variety of settings. Her nursing career began at age eighteen, working in public and private nursing homes as a CNA. Kimberly worked with seniors throughout her college years and graduated with honors receiving her BSN from the Oregon Health & Science University located in Portland, Oregon. Upon graduation, she moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and worked in the hospital and clinic setting as a Registered Nurse. Kimberly currently serves as a Patient Care Coordinator providing training for newly hired caregivers and performing client assessments for Home Instead.
Kimberly is married with two adult daughters, is a member of her local DAR Chapter, and enjoys playing competitive tennis.

Laura Boatner, RN - Personal Care Coordinator
A self-employed medical transcriptionist for fifteen years, Laura decided to use her knowledge with a job in caregiving. She graduated top of her class at Kennesaw State University with her BSN in 2002. In 2008, she began caring for her own mother. Because she had such a positive experience using Home Instead services at that time, she was delighted to begin working for us. She draws from that experience as her source of empathy, understanding what a stressful endeavor it is to care for a disabled parent. She has served as a volunteer for Wellstar Hospice, and she's served the homeless at MUST Ministries in Marietta. She and her husband have two grown children and two grandchildren. She is a proponent for dog rescue.

Regina Cook, RN - Personal Care Coordinator
Regina has been a nurse for 28 years, graduating from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing in the 4th bachelors prepared class. Her experience includes medical/ surgical nursing, long-term care, short-term rehab and Hospice. It was during her hospice stent that Regina heard about Home Instead, both from an employee and clients whom all had positive experiences. She would refer her hospice clients to Home Instead if they needed extra care. So, when she heard Home Instead needed another RN, she was elated. She's been with Home Instead since early 2021 doing nursing, caregiving and helping out wherever she's needed. She has two grown married children and three grandchildren.

Sandi Gault, RN - Client Care Coordinator
Sandi has been a nurse for over 20 years, graduating from Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing. Her experience ranges from working with tiny newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Cobb Wellstar Hospital to working with senior adults as the Wellness Director at an assisted living facility. Sandi has worked for several home care agencies.
Sandi has two grown children and three grandchildren. She also has two fur babies.

Karen Crocker, RN - Client Care Coordinator
Karen's experience with Home Instead began years ago when her mother was a client. She was pleased with the services Home Instead provided to her family, and came to work for us in June 2022. Karen has always loved helping people, and started her career as a CNA. She graduated from Lakeview School of Nursing in Danville, Illinois. Her nursing experience includes Neuro ICU, Medical Surgery ICU, Emergency Room, Supervisor of Visiting Home Health Services, Upjohn Health Care, out-patient surgery, and hospice. She was also Health and Wellness Director for an assisted living facility.
Karen is married to a pastor, and they have three grown sons and six grandchildren. She enjoys gardening.

Lyn Johnson - Office Coordinator
Lyn joined Home Instead in 2021 as Office Coordinator. She has a degree in Business Administration and more than 20 years of administrative and bookkeeping experience. Although she prefers to work in the office behind the scenes, she has faced the challenges and rewards of caregiving by taking care of both of her parents.
Lyn and her husband have three grown children and two grandchildren. She is a lifelong fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves, and is looking forward to her next Caribbean cruise.

Laurie Dunn, On-Call Coordinator
Laurie came to our company in June, 2016 with 14 years of caregiving experience. Caregiving has been her passion since childhood. She has helped with family, worked at an assisted living facility, a home care agency, and also had private duty clients. She has now taken on a different role in this field by becoming part of our scheduling team. She listens compassionately to the clients as well as the caregivers, and strives to meet their needs.
