We started Home Instead for my parents a few months ago, and it's been a tremendous help. My brother and I both live out of town, and we weren't sure what to do when my parents had a bad fall. But we had done some exploration of home help, and we knew Home Instead had a great reputation. They made it easy from the very first call. Angelica, the client care manager, got both my brother and me on the phone the same day (he was overseas!), and a care pro was at my parents' house the next morning. Since then, the care pros have become an essential support for our parents. Not only do they help with housecleaning and grocery runs, they drive them to appointments, go into the exam room, and take notes. My mom was always the one to take notes, but her memory isn't what it used to be, so before this, we were left reconstructing each doctor's visit from whatever she could recall. In August, one of the care pros sat through my dad's full hour with his neurologist and wrote up the whole visit for us—including two blood pressure readings that turned out to matter a great deal. We were able to read all of it through the online family portal that same evening, hundreds of miles away. They've been just as wonderful when an appointment comes up on short notice. More than once we’ve called only a day ahead and had a driver arranged before we hung up. They also sent a professional nurse to oversee my parents' medications. She settled a drug-interaction question that had been worrying us, set up the pill boxes, and signed off on the care pros who help fill them, which was an enormous relief. And they notice things. One of the care pros saw that my dad's walker was set too low and was making him stoop, and simply took care of it. She also suggested that we get him a bed rail, which is a very helpful piece of equipment that we didn’t know existed. That kind of attention and support has made a tremendous difference for our family.

Their caregivers are attentive and they have a nurse on staff. They keep up with trainings and work hard to create an amazing team. Home Instead Tucson has been a blessing for my Mother, as well as her children. The Carepros are very professional and caring. After her fall and 3 weeks of PT, we hired HI. They have taken very good care of my Mom, cooking her meals, keeping up with her exercises, light housekeeping and even accompanying me on appts, grocery runs, etc. Don't know what we would do without them.

Alicia D., Home Instead Tucson, AZ

At Home Instead Tucson, Alicia D is known for bringing comfort and a smile to every home visited. Alicia comes to us with a background in i started working at an assisted living facility as a housekeeper on the dementia ward, then promoted to a resident assistant. i decided to get my cna certificate and was accepted into a program at carondelet, at. st. joe's hospital where i did on the job trading na to rn. due to my mother in law illness i had to leave the program to be a care giver to her. i have had several jobs working as a medical assistant in dr. offices and have through my career taken time off to care for various family members,. my father in law, my grandmother, my daughter, and now my husband. so it only seemed a natural transition to continue the job i loved to do, care giving. i was hired at home instead only a few months ago and i love it!. With 4-5 months at Home Instead, Alicia has built relationships rooted in trust, compassion, and shared joy.

For Alicia, the reward is in the connection. "I love that they feel comfortable to allow me into their personal space and trust me enough in a way that they can go to sleep for a few hours and they feel safe and know every thing is ok. That by my being there they can stay in their own home were they want to be instead of a facility that can seem very frightening. They are surrounded by things they know and love in their own home. I love hearing their stories. The adventures that they have had, how they lead their lives. I consider it a privilege to be a part of someone's life in a time when they need to have help to keep living a life they created for themselves," Alicia shares. Through these shared moments, Alicia has learned valuable life lessons, noting, "Everyone is a human being and deserves to live the best life they can live. All the way to the end."

Alicia's daily goal is simple: ensure every client feels safe, comfortable, and cared for. Skilled in i feel i do well with dementia clients. i can't explain why i just have a connection with them. i understand how scary it must be to not remember the little things we take for granted. i treat every client as if i were caring for my own family member. i hope that when it is my turn to need a care pro, i will be treated the same way., Alicia finds joy in the details of each visit. "I love when I start my shift, each morning my client says... "thank you so much for coming today I didn't know if you would be here or not. Now I can relax and know everything is OK, and I can get through this day."," Alicia says of a typical day.

Alicia praises the local team for their dedication and communication. "People often tell me, we used your company for my... you were awesome. Your employees were so kind, and loving," Alicia notes. "We stand by each other, and we care for all our clients. When something needs to be done it's done quickly or on time."

In every way, Alicia reflects the heart of caregiving: consistency, connection, and the quiet pride of knowing you've made someone's life better today.

Helpful FAQs

Changes in personal care, mobility, meals, transportation, memory, or everyday routines can be signs that extra help would be useful. A hospitalization can also create a sudden need for support.

Transportation and hospital-stay support are two issues the local team regularly encounters in the Tucson area. Home care can begin with only the help that’s needed now and expand if circumstances change.

For families trying to have that conversation before a crisis, Home Instead’s What’s Next Toolkit provides checklists and conversation starters.

The local organization reports more than 15 years of experience serving Tucson and its suburbs.

That local experience is supported by nurse managers with more than 60 years of combined experience serving older adults and other leadership team members with more than 50 years of combined experience in senior healthcare.

Sometimes. The office reports a same-day capability supported by 24/7 phone coverage through an on-call team and a dedicated staffing team.

The local team combines substantial healthcare experience with specialized preparation in dementia and veteran support.

Multiple leadership team members are Certified Dementia Practitioners. Care Pros complete a Virtual Dementia Tour before being assigned to a client living with dementia. Care Pros supporting veterans also receive special education focused on PTSD.

Services may include personal care, companionship, transportation, dementia support, respite, hospital-to-home assistance, veteran support, or more extensive schedules. The plan can change as the person’s needs change.

Yes. Home Instead Tucson can help when one nearby family member is supporting both parents with chronic illnesses or disabilities and both need extra help at the same time.

Home Instead quickly began care and Care Pros coordinated their work across the household. The support continued for almost a year and allowed the daughter to resume her job while remaining involved in managing her parents’ lives.

Cost depends on the type and frequency of care. Several visits each week will have a different cost from a plan requiring extensive daily or continuous support.

The local team can discuss the expected cost after learning what assistance and schedule are needed.
