Home instead helped me take care of my dad who was on hospice care in my home. I wanted to give him the best care possible but as he became restless and began climbing over the bed rail, needing to be lifted from chair to his bed etc. I was overwhelmed and beyond tired. When they came with serious help. The women were knowledgable, proactive, I could totally trust them to care for my dad while I rested or did other things. They also organized medical items and offered to help clean anything I needed. They truly became friends. I’d had experience with one other agency who were very nice but the helpers were very young and sat on their cell phones waiting to be told what to do or for my dad to ask for help. I felt that I couldn’t leave them alone with my dad. I felt almost as if I was teaching them. I didn’t have them come back as it didn’t feel like help. Home Instead helped me in the last week of my dads life when he really went down hill fast, I don’t know what I would have done without them. I’ve spoken about what they did for me, but the best part is they were so loving and kind towards my dad. I wish I had found them sooner, but am so thankful for them. I have thought since that If I ever become terminally ill, I hope I can get their care.
