We feel so, so lucky to have Linda Evans in our life. Her professionalism is only surpassed by her kindness and compassion. Seeing the genuine affection between her and my mother is simply lovely. It’s a big weight off to know my mom is in such capable hands when I can’t always be there. She is an absolute gem.

He does everything for me, above and beyond what he needs to do for me. I always look forward to him coming to stay with me. I wish he could be here more with me than the time time we spend together.

Darlene Andrasik is an absolute treasure! Every morning she greets me with a positive attitude and a bright smile. She jumps right in when I need something done. She helps with the dishes and other housework and my family just loves her for that! In the summer we go outside and she helps me take care of my flowers and vegetables. We have such a great time together. In the winter we play games and do crafts. I have never had a better caregiver. We appreciate her so much.

CINDY TARASI is definitely a 5 star winner. She is always on time and stays the course full time fulfilling my needs. She makes sure I am ok first thing and then proceeds with breakfast and pills and whatever my needs of the day entail. Do I have a medical appointment and adjusts us for the time we need. Helps me dress and get ready. She is very knowledgeable about my medical problems and needs. She helps me with food marketing, shopping of any kind, the organization and cleanliness of my apartment which is very important to me. We have many laughs together which helps make the situation of getting old more pleasant. We get along well and I hope she is with me until my end. She has been with me for almost 1 year. That in itself tells you of her worth for me.............and you.

The care you need for the life you want.

Helpful FAQs

Dementia care is one of the Oakmont office’s strongest areas of experience. The team regularly supports people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, including clients whose needs progress from companionship and supervision to personal care and more extensive schedules.

The office also has a strong presence in higher-hour and more complex home care. With approximately 175 Care Pros and about 100 clients, the organization has built dedicated leadership across Client Care, Scheduling, HR, Care Pro training, business development, and operations rather than placing every responsibility on one or two people.

Yes. The Oakmont office serves communities including Oakmont, Monroeville, Plum, Penn Hills, Verona, Fox Chapel, Aspinwall, and Highland Park. Dementia support is one of its strongest areas of local experience.

Care may include companionship, supervision, personal care, meals, mobility assistance, transportation, and more extensive support as needs change.

The local office reports that it can typically begin care within two to three days.

The exact start time depends on the care needs, schedule, location, and availability of an appropriate Care Pro. That flexibility can be particularly useful when families need additional support after a hospitalization or when dementia needs have progressed beyond what the family can manage alone.

Home care allows an older adult to remain in their own home while receiving one-on-one support around their existing routines. Assisted living involves moving to a residential setting with services available there.

For an older adult with dementia, staying in familiar surroundings can be an important part of the family’s decision. Home care can also scale from companionship and supervision to personal care and higher-hour support, depending on what the person needs.

Cost depends on the amount and type of support required. A few weekly visits will have different staffing requirements from higher-hour care or 24-hour support.

The Oakmont team can discuss the customized care plan and expected cost during a care consultation. Families can also use Home Instead’s Cost of Care resource for broader planning information.

Every Care Professional completes at least 19 hours of training and supervised experience before providing care independently. That includes seven hours of online education, eight hours of hands-on personal care training, and a four-hour shadow visit with an experienced Care Professional.

During hands-on training, Care Pros practice personal care, safe transfers, mobility assistance, and use of common durable medical equipment. They must demonstrate the skills in practice before working independently.
