Get to Know a Care Pro

Paula K., Home Instead Lincoln, NE

If you ask Paula what led her to Home Instead, she’ll tell you it started with a desire to make a difference—one person at a time. After years of working in retail, tech, and raising a family, Paula was ready for something more personal. “I wanted to work with someone one-on-one,” she says. “To help with everyday things and hear their stories—what life was like when they were growing up, how things have changed.”

Now a dedicated Care Pro serving older adults across the Lincoln area, Paula brings a warm presence and a listening ear to every care visit. “Most of the clients I’ve met have lived such interesting lives,” she says. “I love seeing the light in their eyes when they talk about their memories.”

While she’s experienced in many aspects of care, Paula especially enjoys outings—driving clients to appointments, helping with errands, or simply going for a ride to get out of the house. “It’s not just about keeping watch,” she explains. “It’s about helping them stay active and independent in their own home.”

Paula knows that letting someone into your home can be a big step. “Trust is everything,” she says. “Some clients aren’t sure at first. But when they see we’re here to help—not take over—it changes things.”

When asked what she’s proud of, Paula doesn’t hesitate: “Getting to be part of someone’s life in this way—it matters. Just being there when they need someone… that’s what I love most.”
